It's been about 6 weeks & around 30k lys, but my Formidine Rift Tour is nearing its end. I have traveled south beyond the rift, stopping this evening at one of the brightest stars in the dimly lit region at 'Vigs Beacon' (Vigs AA-A E1). I will cross further south beyond the historic 'Point Decision' (Aicods KD-K D8-3) marking the southernmost point early explorers could reach, in the coming days, & look out beyond to see how far south I can go...

Eerie, quiet reminding me of the old Earth movie 'Event Horizon'. I arrived at the lost mega ship in the Formidine Rift, The Zurara, today. Logs tell of betrayal, madness, conspiracy & mystery. Ship appears intact, has power but no-one alive. I've decided to leave this cursed place and travel back North East across the Rift before heading South again to Vig's Beacon in Vigs AA-A E1. Lets see what there is to see!

I made it to Rho Cassiopeiae! The 45th CMDR recorded on EDSM to make it here. An impressive sight. The true scale is hard to comprehend, even while docked at the only landable planet 45k lys from the star, it's still huge! Well worth the trip & challenge. I am resting now, restocking some Niobium which is plentiful on the planet here, just as a bit of a buffer for the trip back to the galactic plane, but will take a look around the area first and see if there is anything else worth checking out.

Stars are thin, and the sky is mainly black - a bit disconcerting looking out into the void... could drive one mad...

No success in finding Niobium in the surrounding systems. Slowly heading further down the galactic plane today in search of other moons that may help. I am getting close, but still do not see a way to get down. I'm sure it can be done!

I have arrived in the vicinity of Rho Cassiopeiae today. Around 700lys above. It is posing a challenge to find a path down. I've stopped at Hypheerb IT-E c0 to replenish my FSD boosts in preparation. All material required can be found in this system, although collection has been slow going. Once stocked, I will start the risky path down beyond.

Out there it will start to get risky, fewer and fewer jump options and refuel points, but I came prepared with double the fuel tank size so should be fine. Still need to be cautious. I forgot after a couple years of not exploring how much I enjoyed this, even with the beigified dullified planets.

Onto the next leg today ...

Not particuarly exciting settlements, and in true Frontier fashion they are bugged as hell as well. Two settlements using same assets from other settlements called Hobbes Hope, one site unable to access 3 of the data points and the last with some overwhemingly loud humming sound like there were a dozen capital ships hovering 10m above the surface. Seriously had to turn off the sound till I left.

Any rate, I have moved on deeper to the lost mega ship out here, then pushing out past the Formidine Rift into the sparse regions of space to the south, before travelling up Perseus Arm back to the bubble.

After the dust has settled on a rather disappoint 2.4 update, and spending only an hour before getting bored with the 'alien threat' I decided last week to head out on an expedition to the Formidine Rift approximately 8000 lys from Sol. There was a mystery out here last year that uncovered some abandoned settlements which lead on to the Salome storyline and the Aliens we have now. So time to cross it off the bucket list while there is nothing else to do & I eagerly await the planetary updates next year for a proper deep space expedition.
