WP6 - POI #1 - Shrogaei Nebula Cluster

From the Dryau Awesomes, the next stop on the way was the Shrogaei Nebula Cluster. Visiting all of them would have taken too much time, considering that the expedition already left Waypoint 7, meaning I'm still some ways behind them. Therefore I decided to visit only the Shrogaei FH-U e3-1421 system. On my way, I saw this strange blue blob, thinking: okay, what's THAT? Then I realized it must be the nebula itself. Inside the system there was a blue ribbon again, but this time I've kept a respectful distance from it. :-)
Leaving the Shrogaei nebulae behind, there came a looooong series of jumps on my way to catch up to the expedition, but I managed to check out at least the major waypoints along the way.

WP6 - POI #7 - Sagittarius A*

Finally I reached the center of our galaxy, the supermassive black hole in the system Sagittarius A*. First, I've visited the newly constructed station in the nearby system. The station is called Explorer's Anchorage and in fact I've used it as an anchor, since if I happen to have an unfortunate accident on the way to Beagle Point, this would be a closer anchor point to fall back to, instead of the bubble. After landing safely at Explorer's Anchorage and thus getting my "spawn point" established, I was brave enough to get close to the famed super black hole. I've immortalized my visit to it on the official forum topic and so I'm now visitor number #2530 at this legendarz landmark.

And finally, after all these adventures, I've landed safely at Waypoint 7 - Armstrong Landing.

I saw my first Black Hole there, which was not that awesome, but it was still moderately awesome because it had a cool visual effect, it sort of made the surrounding stars look kinda funny, like you were watching them through a magnifying glass or a through a very badly calibrated eyeglass from those historic times when cybereyes were still the stuff of science fiction. The really awesome thing about the Dryau Awesomes was that this black hole happens to be really close to a neutron star. I'm scared of neutron stars because they can seriously screw up your ship and you might end up like that poor guy I mentioned in my previous log, whose emergency broadcast I accidentally tuned on my radio.
But since I really wanted to check out that black hole from a closer distance I had to risk approaching that scary but beautiful blue ribbon. Aaaaand of course I f---ed up (pardon my French). I must have gotten close to the center of that neutron star because I dropped off from supercruise and took some damage. Fortunately I had a heatsink and I used it to try and get away. Didn't work, once again I dropped out of supercruise. Fortunately, the second time it worked, but now I'm down to just one charge of heatsink, so I got to be careful. I hear though that there is a new station built by the expedition at the centre of the galaxy, so I just need to reach that. From now on though, I'll be even more scared of those neutron guys. Fortunately I'm not that banged up, hull integrity or what's it called is still 97%, so I should be okay. It's still reassuring though, that if shit really hits the fan (again, pardon my French) I might be able to call on a dedicated team of hull repair mechanics, who are part of the expedition. Apparently all you have to do is just say !mechanic and they come rescue you. I think they are the most awesomesauce guys on the expedition, tied for that honor with the fuel rat guys, who you can call when you run out of fuel. However even these guys can't repair your modules, for that you need a so-called AFMU unit, which I of course did not install when I hastily left Colonia, but will definitely be on my buy list when I get to Explorer's Anchorage, the new station at Sagittarius A*.
Before I left the Awesomes, I landed on one of the planets to catch my breath after surviving my close encounter with the blue ribbon.

This thing on? Hey Miss Potts, if you find this recording, don't feel bad about this. Part of the journey is the end. Just for the record, being adrift in space with zero promise of rescue is more fun than it sounds. Food and water ran out four days ago, oxygen will run out tomorrow morning... that'd be it. When I drift off, I will dream about you. It's always you.
Whoa, got some weird transmission on my radio for a moment there, hope that guy is all right and gets home safely to Miss Potts, whoever she might be. Anyways, this is Commander rpotor aboard the Asp Explorer, HSS Lindsey Stirling, named after the greatest violinist in the history of mankind.
Couple of days ago I decided I'll join the Distant Worlds 2 expedition, because it sounds like an awesome challenge. Unfortunately it turns out the official roster is full, but I can still tag along the expedition group and at least the public official comm channels of the expedition are available to me, it seems.
Turns out at the time I decided to go on this expedition, it was already well underway, they were chilling at their 7th Waypoint, which is actually at the center of the galaxy. Fortunately it is not too far from Colonia, so I jumped in my Asp Explorer and just ran after them to catch up. Over the past weekend I travelled some 7500 light years, reached Waypoint 6 and as I'm writing these words, I'm on my way to Waypoint 7.
This is meant to be a captain's log, documenting my journey with pictures. They will not be pretty pictures most likely, but they will be pictures nonetheless. :-) So without further ado, let's start.
