Matariki is the Māori name for a cluster of stars which is visible in our night sky at a specific time of the year. In June/July, Matariki will re-appear in the dawn sky – signalling the start of the Māori New Year. Because Māori follow the Māori lunar calendar, not the European calendar, the dates for Matariki change every year.

Visit the Official Expedition Site for more information, points of interest and tips to maximise your experience during this expedition.

This expedition is to celebrate Matariki which means "Eyes of the God". This is to celebrate the Māori New Year, and to share a little bit about the Māori culture from Aotearoa / New Zealand. Find a little bit more about Matariki, visit the Matariki website of **Te Wānanga o Aotearoa
