Introduction to Expedition:Discovery 3307

Expedition:Discovery 3307 is about finding the unknown. It's about a quest across the blackness of space, to discover and examine new systems never before visited. It's about accomplishing a greater goal to see what's out there, to see what hasn't been seen, and to possibly catalog something not yet discovered. With less than 1% of the galaxy uncovered, who knows what we might find.

This June, let's travel across the galaxy together to see what's out there.

Expedition Layout

Ultimate Goal - Catalog as many systems as possible and upload the results along the journey to EDSM. Each CMDR will be assigned a generalized route across the galaxy with a start point and an endpoint to travel.

CMDRs can choose to route plot however they choose along their assignment so long as they travel along their designated path. You can travel above the galactic plane, below it, or travel back and forth between the two.

CMDRs will only be required to use the FSS (Full Spectrum Scanner) on systems that are: A) Never visited before by any CMDR previously B) Systems previously visited, however the amount of bodies identified with the Discovery Scanner do not correlate to the amount of bodies visible on the System Map

UPDATE 5/26/2021

It has not gone unnoticed that several CMDRs have shown interest in this Expedition outside of the scope of the Original 16 CMDRs that have been an active participant in the behind-the-scenes planning. In an effort to be as inclusive as possible, CMDRs not part of the original group may pick from any of the assigned routes and fly at their leisure. The plotted routes may be found at here.

CMDRs on PC will be meeting on Bernoulli Vision in the Caeritis system for photos and "drinks" at the bar. We will be Open for the duration of the meetup before departing. This scheduled meetup is subject to changed based on the condition of Odyssey and it's instancing issues.

UPDATE 6/8/2021

Extremely proud of the team's progress in just over 48 hours since launch. Both from the original 16 CMDRs and the newcomers that signed up via EDSM. Keep up the good work everyone, so many first discoveries have already been made!

UPDATE 10/19/2021

Congrats on everyone who has done a great job so far exploring the black! Thousands of first-discovered systems were visited by both the Discord group and the EDSM signups! The Expedition has been extended to 12/4/2021 to allow CMDRs to continue and complete their exploration routes. This will be the absolute FINAL cutoff date for the Expedition regardless of progress.

I'm very proud of everyone involved and the progress you all made. For those still exploring, safe travels out there and I hope you make amazing discoveries!
