A large reddish-orange nebula situated approx. 38,500 LYs from Sol close to the beginning of the Perseus arm. The nebula is devoid of young O or B stars, with only a few A and F type stars. Stars of type G, K, M are present, suggesting that the nebula could be quite old compared to those that still contain much younger stars. The Steam Horse Nebula was one of the very first Upper 1st Quadrant points of interest visited and recorded for the Galactic Mapping Project (August 3301).
A recent visitor stated: "The outstanding part is that the nebula hosts a population helium-rich gas giants in B-F star class systems."
