(5,374 hours) - Phase 3 - The Veils & Formorian Frontier

Log copied from INARA. https://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/80559/48700/

It's been 72 hours since my last log update for Phase 2 of the journey. Total stats and the ship details are at the end of the log.

------------ | Phase 3 | ------------

This phase was to continue along the Scutum-Centaurus Galactic Arm and travel into the Formorian Frontier Region.

Still being in the Flyai Flyuae nebula (see the last log) and knowing that this was the last Nebula I'd see for a very long time, I decided to moor-up the ship here and carry out some essential ship computer work. Another 2 jumps were made inside the Nebula to Flyai Flyuae VO-A C0 and a month and a half break was taken from flying. The time was spent reconfiguring the computer, building and refining various UI's and starting from scratch with the COVAS recognition engine.

Unfortunately for the data I record in my logs, historic data was wiped from EDD with the ship's computer reset. I mistakenly assumed EDD would link up with EDDN and EDSM to retrieve all the info.

However, on the positive side, except for the two jumps I made, I have the previous info from my INARA logs, plus EDD is recording the information after those 2 jumps. Before leaving, my co-pilot and I checked everything internally and deployed the fighter to check all of the external modules were also working correctly:

Firstly, a route was plotted to head towards the middle of the Scutum-Centaurus Galactic Arm which was 36 jumps. 8 jumps in, an interesting planet was found overlooking the Flyai Flyuae nebula that I'd recently left. The planet is orbiting a Gas Giant over 2K LS from its star and was a water world with a metal rich ring in the FLYAI FLYUAE DG-X D1-20 system: After the gentle re-introduction, I settled down there for a few days. Late on the 18th, I headed away and travelled at a slow pace to the routes target system, covering the remaining 28 jumps.

A long course was then plotted to THUECHAEI JN-A D1-6 (as planned from the last log), which was 409 jumps covering 19,920 LY.

6 jumps later, an interesting system was found with various profitable planets to map. The ship was stopped for the night outside a terraformable water world - FLYAI FLYUAE IE-E D13-253 - Planet 9:

The following day and with 377 jumps remaining, a vibrant Ammonia world was discovered in the system PRUE FLYUAE RT-O D7-11 system:

It was at that point, that I had a look at where the newly established Deep Space Support Array (DSSA) of fleet carriers were in relation to my course. I selected the 113th jump in my route to take me to ROEFAA QG-J D10-106, where a short detour would be taken to visit the carrier TFS Carpe Vinum in the system BYAE AOWSY GR-N D6-52.

Around half way there and with 67 jumps remaining, a Class III Gas Giant was found, only 75LS from its class K star in the system DRYIQEAU XX-J C25-38:

24 jumps away and in the system ROEFAA IR-C D17, I discovered possibly the largest Ammonia world I'd ever seen! It seemed almost like a Gas giant with its 72 Earth masses and 6 moons. Comparing that to a small Gas giant with water based life in the same system was only 40 Earth masses, so the Ammonia planet was well over 1.5 times the mass.

17 jumps later, Viatorem stopped off in the system ROEFAA TI-B C16-13 to top up a few materials in an SRV, whilst visiting some ice geysers on the planet 2DA:

I arrived at ROEFAA QG-J D10-106 (which I'd plotted for starting the detour). Next was to set a course to the DSSA carrier in BYAE AOWSY GR-N D6-52. There were 22 jumps / 1,004.01LY needed, so I decided to press on and be able to hopefully see the first human since May. I was looking forward to seeing one of the new carriers I'd heard about from the deep-space data streams!

It was pleasantly surprising that even though my last jump was only 14.7LY, it hadn't been visited before - like nearly everywhere else, this far out at 46,582LY from Sol. When I reached the system BYAE AOWSY GR-N D6-52 and the area of the DSSA carrier, it was welcoming to have a taste of home, by being greeted by an Earth Like World with a ring system, which the TFS Carpe Vinum carrier was orbiting:

When I arrived, it felt a little unsettling to know that the entire carrier was probably empty, except a few essential crew. I pulled up a 3D map of my location (ED Discovery) to check the EDDN log of previous visits. There weren't many travel records around there which I was a bit surprised about.

To check progress, the (EDDN) totals showed the amounts since I did the ship's computer overhaul, which reset the exploration data to zero in EDD like I mentioned at the start of the log. As expected, there was a gap of two systems between ending Phase 2 and the reset. EDSM showed the planets in the 2 systems and the missing stat information was based on averages of 1068 systems from the journey since Phase 1. So far, the Phase 3 results were looking good with 203 jumps, 3,142 scans and 115 planets mapped - worth a value of 220,513,140. That also reached the milestone of a billion credit exploration data value from the phases. It had reached 1,040,320,844 from the start of the journey when I left the Eagle Nebula.

From there, a course was plotted 20 jumps / 1003.70LY back to the previous main route line via unvisited stars (so, including other types of systems like non scoopable stars).

After arriving at ROEFAA WM-H B43-5, I re-joined the main route and plotted a course again, for the phase 3 objective of reaching THUECHAEI JN-A D1-6. From there, the distance was 12,857LY / 266 jumps.

50 jumps were traveled and a terraformable planet with extensive polar regions was found in the system FACHAEA IG-B C2-5. The next day was spent there while overhauling one of the ships panels. In RL, I use 2 tablets and a phone connected to my PC as panels for Elite (in W10, they're basically extra screens). The overhaul was for the phone which has a custom Rainmeter skin showing 8 audio directional channels, visually representing where sound is coming from. It used to have a screenshot of Viatorem for the background but now it uses a GIF of the ship. If you want me to share any info, help, files etc - give me a shout.

54 jumps in, I arrived at the system FACHAEA YZ-W D2-4 which was remarkable. It contained 2 terraformable high metal content worlds, one terraformable water world but most importantly - an Earth like world. From there, the distance was 46,922 from Sol, 33,552 from Colonia and 24,071 from Beagle Point.

With 102 systems visited, I arrived in GRIA PRAU JA-Z C16-3. Planet 9 was interesting - being a massive water world covered in a thick mist due to the temperature and pressure.
The surface temperature was 584k Kelvin (3x boiling point of water on Earth), it has 9.5 x the mass of Earth, 3G and very dense Atmospheric Pressure at 765.14 (over 8 x Venus). Similar to the large Ammonia world I discovered earlier in this phase, this world was also larger than a Gas giant in the same system (Planet 11, Class 1, 7.95 Earth masses) I took a low flight over the world to collect some atmospheric samples before continuing on the journey:

19 jumps later, I'd left The Veils region and was in the second system of the Formorian Frontier. The system was called FLYAE BLAO VN-A D1-30, which contained a brown dwarf with an enormous ring. Its mass was over 9.4 Trillion tonnes and its radius was 1.88LS / diameter of 3.76LS

After another 44 jumps, I arrived in the system FLYAE BLAO CQ-O C22-8 where 3 terraformable worlds were found and I decided to rest there for the night.

The next day, a total of 42 systems were visited. On the 25th jump (in the system PROOE BLI ND-Q D6-33), a nice looking water world was found with a rocky ring quite a distance from the planet. With the image below, you can see the light of the galaxy was definitely getting dimmer, compared to the previous phases:

The following day and after only 2 jumps into the travels, I discovered another Earth Like World in the system AUPHAIQS EH-C D70. From there, only 76 jumps / 3647LY were remaining for Phase 3:

Being this far out and discovering this planet (the 3rd Earth like world in this phase) made me miss home, so I decided to stay there for a few hours. I called a friend on a deep space transmission, ate some food and took some time to relax. It was then time to continue on the journey!

34 jumps later, two metal rich planets were discovered in the AUPHAIRKS OV-B D14-33 system. It was getting late at that point so I settled down next to a 100% solid metal planet with Metallic Magma volcanism and rings:

6 jumps in, I found the DROOTAAE ZM-X C3-15 system which had a water world, an Ammonia world and another Earth Like world. There's been more than I expected out here! Thinking about it, I presume it's because I'm around the same distance as Earth is from the centre of the galaxy (26.5k vs 25.6k for Earth). This planet had 2.7 Earth masses but only 0.7 atmospheric pressures:

24 jumps later (13 to go), I arrived in THE PREIA BYOEA OG-O C22-7 system. It contained 5 terraformable planets with 3 high metal and twin water worlds:

The last few systems had a lot of planets to scan but I finally made it to the Phase 3 objective of reaching THUECHAEI JN-A D1-6. There were no high value planets to map but there were two massive high metal content worlds furthest from the star - valued at over 500k.

------------------- | Progress Stats | -------------------

The progress values for Phase 3 were: [li]Jumps: 489[/li] [li]Distance: 24,365.83LY[/li] [li]Scans: 7,814[/li] [li]Planets Mapped: 263[/li] [li]Value: 547,212,260[/li] [li]Average scans per system: 15.441[/li]

Combining the totals from the three Phases gives the overall progress of: [li]Jumps: 1,356[/li] [li]Distance: 66,860.45[/li] [li]Scans: 21,188[/li] [li]Planets Mapped: 674[/li] [li]Value: 1,367,019,964[/li] [li]Average scans per system: 15.625[/li]

--------------------- | The plan ahead | ---------------------

Phase 4 will be to break away from the Scutum-Centaurus Galactic Arm and travel onwards through The Formorian Frontier Region; into The Abyss to visit Beagle Point. From where I am, I'm not able to plot a course with only scoopable stars but I can set a route with L-Type stars included. The distance is 14,014LY which works out as 340 jumps.

After reaching Beagle Point but before sending my log in a data stream, I'll visit a carrier, ditch the 64 repairs limpets, enable the FSD booster and travel as far away as I can. Depending on the stars I find on long range sensors, any of the FSD synthesis enhancements can be used as long as I'm sure there'll be enough fuel!

----------------- | Ship details | -----------------

Exploration ships are usually as light as possible which sacrifices some usage when they reach their destination. (5,302 hours) - Phase 2 - Norma Expanse, Trojan Belt & The Veils

Log copied from INARA. https://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/80559/46263/

It's been 46 hours since my last log update for the planning and Phase 1 of the journey. Total stats and the ship details are at the end of the log.

------------ | Phase 2 | ------------

At the start this phase, I noticed my ship's computer didn't have the route filtering option enabled for star types so that was switched back on. I set a course for the FLYAI FLYUAE YJA C1 system which was 19,933.22LY and 428 jumps away. This phase will take me out of the Norma Expanse region, through Trojans Belt and into The Veils region.

At only 3 jumps in, I saw my first Neutron star of the entire journey. I hadn't seen one of those for just over 4 years (April 2016).

A ringed Ammonia world was found after 12 jumps - in the system DRYEAE AOWSY CB-X D1-95 4:

Another 12 jumps later, a Terraformable world was found orbiting a Gas Giant in the system DRYEAE AOWSY FS-K D8-11.

With 58 systems visited, 33 mapped planets and 855 scans, I stopped off by a water world in the EOWYG AUB SG-K C22-41 system for the night.

The next day, I covered 45 jumps (103 total), 727 scans (1,582 total) and 35 planets mapped (68 total).

A pleasant Earth Like world was found in the system HYPOI FLYI JT-O D7-207 where I rested for the night:

The following day and after 28 jumps (131 total), I found a rather unique water world in the system SCHREANG PJ-O D7-95. It had an interesting looking metal rich ring system, 15 Earth masses and 129 atmospheric surface pressure - so it's not exactly somewhere you'd like to go fishing! The world was so large that the efficiency mapping max target was 9. The system also has a ringed Ammonia world nearby although I've only included an image of the ringed water world for the log, taken after leaving it's asteroids for some supplies:

I finished the efforts for the day in the system HYPOI PRI TY-Y DA-109 which left only about 865LY remaining until I entered the next galactic region - Trojan Belt. I'd covered 44 jumps (147 total), 665 scans (2,247 total) and 26 planets mapped (94 total). I noticed as I was flying and also clearly by today's numbers, that the systems were becoming less dense.

For my last night in the Norma Expanse region, I settled down with a scenic view of an asteroid field around a class Y Brown Dwarf:

I arrived in the Trojan Belt region the next day and then restricted my galaxy route mapping systems further, by filtering out K and M type stars, which added more jumps for this phase.

46 jumps in, I arrived in the system PHREIA PRI VJ-Q E5-8 which has mostly Gas Giants and only one landable planet. The planet is 1.5 times the mass of Earth and the temperature is 498 Kelvin (or 225 C / 436 F) even though it's 1850Ls from its star. I decided to map the planet and discovered one Geological site on the surface. I enabled my shields and headed down to land on the 1.32G world:

I landed the ship to investigate the area. Sulphur Dioxide Gas Vents and element clusters were found on the planet which you can see below and various element capacities were topped up at the site:

Looking into the data collected so far, the scan value obtained from Phase 1 and up until this point had just crossed the 500m value mark. After a short break, it was time to return to the void:

I found a cloudy Terraformable world in the UMBAITS FM-U D3-13 system and took a fly through the exosphere layer of the atmosphere before returning to orbit to switch off the engines and head back to my cabin.

I'm glad to say there had been a lot of progress today with 116 jumps (263 total), 1,625 scans (3,872 total) and 72 planets mapped (166 total). Although a lot of distance had been covered in this phase (12,963.43 lY), there was another 7,439 LY left until I reached the FLYAI FLYUAE Nebula. I was around mid way through the Trojans Belt region so I aimed to hopefully arrive the day after next.

After 27 jumps, I saw a planet on my FSS scanner which looked like a ringed Water World in the system DRYAE GREE BV-X D1-13. Viatorem's computer classed it as a Heavy Metal world and didn't recommend it for mapping (EDDI). It looked like a scenic place to have a break so I headed out 3,709lS to have a look. After mapping the world, the Atmosphere showed it was 1/3 Ammonia, Methane and Nitrogen, which reminded me of the moon Titan from Sol due to it's Methane rain.

^Although the hull and all internal modules had 100% health, the paint was another story! I felt like it was a shame I couldn't program a few Limpets to give it a respray!

26 jumps later (53rd of today), I found a nice looking Metal Rich Lava world in the system DRYAE GREE HN-A D14-8 which has slightly more mass than Earth (1.0692) but 1.78G and was the only body orbiting star B at 10LS away,

When the progress for the day was done, a lot of distance and scans had been covered - even more than yesterday! The end of day report contained 123 jumps (796 total), 2,229 scans (6,101 total) and 63 planets mapped (229 total). I found a Terraformable planet which had a nice blue scattering effect from its atmosphere to enjoy overnight:

31 jumps in and 43 jumps from the phase 2 target destination, the system HYPAA GREE LM-D D12-5 had 7 mapping candidates. The system is just over forty thousand light years from Sol and the 7 mapped planets were worth 13,779,103 credits. The types of planets were: 5 Terraformable 2 Terraformable Water World

Planet A7, one of the Terraformable planets is below which is overlooking the destination nebula:

14 jumps left, I disabled the ship's star filters so I'd be less likely to visit previously explored systems as I got nearer the nebula and so I'd be jumping more directly. That shortened the route by 3, to 11 remaining jumps.

With only 4 jumps to go, I found a beautiful location with two moons in close proximity, orbiting a gas giant in the system TEGNAE EF-D C26-0:

I stayed for a while and visited moon B first and then moon A. Here's an image taken from moon A, with Viatorem next to a cliff above a Silicate Vapour Fumarole Geological site, with massive mountains, the Flyai Flyuae Nebula behind and the moons sister planet to the left:

I was lucky with one jump left as I found an unmapped Terraformable world 4,581LS from the star (thanks to EDDI), although strangely, other planets had been mapped by other commanders which were 300k LS away.

I finally arrived at the phase 2 destination of FLYAI FLYUAE YJ-A. Planet 2 hadn't been mapped by anyone so I headed there. I missed the value notification from Viatorem's computer but was able to look at ED discovery. it showed it to be worth 143k credits so not too bad, considering I didn't expect to find any unmapped planets.

From this location, I'm 41,448LY from Sol, 32,603LY from Colonia and 33,839LY from Beagle Point. Today's effort to get here had amounted to 71 jumps, 1,148 scans and 61 planets mapped.

------------------- | Progress Stats | -------------------

Phase 3 will be to continue along the Scutum Centaurus galactic arm (as originally planned) and continue through The Veils and into the Formorian Frontier Region. Plotting a course to THUECHAEI JN-A D1-6 for Phase 3 is 19,995LY away and 473 jumps. The number will slightly change between stages when the ship's computer needs to re-plot itself. Phase 3 will be in progress soon o7.

Thank you for having a read through. Please consider giving it a like and subscribing if you found it interesting. Feel free to give me a shout if you have any comments or questions. If you're planning on taking a trip out to explore as well, I'd strongly suggest installing ED Discovery (which ties with EDSM and INARA) and EDDI (which gives you lots of information from your journal files). Both of those and INARA have been essential tools in this journey. Stay safe and fly safe.

(5,256 hours) - Planning and Phase 1 - Inner Orion Spur & Norma Expanse

Log copied from INARA. https://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/80559/46171/

It's been 29 hours since my last update. Total stats and the ship details are at the end of the log.

------------- | Planning | -------------

Unlocking The Traveller Tier 4 requires 479,238LY distance travelled which will take a long time to build up the scans. Due to this and to start chipping away, I decided on the 3rd option from the last log - to fly around the galaxy. When I reach the other side, I plan to visit Beagle Point as well.

The main objective was to unlock The Explorer Tier 3 INARA Award, meaning another 49,773 scans would be needed. Based on the 2nd from last scan system/stats (12.8), that would require 3,889 system visits. Based on the last scan system/stats (19.8), that would require 2,514 system visits.

Most of the scans for the first average were taken from normal space, whereas a lot of the second scan average was from flying in Nebulae. Logically thinking, that would make sense as a Nebula contains more matter, so systems would have more planets and moons in them.

Considering the next leg of the journey will be nearly all outside of any nebulae, I felt safer to use the lower estimate. One factor which should yield higher results will be that this journey is closer to the core. Applying the same logic as I mentioned in the point above, there should be a higher average than 12.8 scans / system.

Whilst still in the Inner Orion Spur region at the Eagle Nebula, I filled my cargo bay with 64 limpets to decrease my jump distance / meaning more jumps.

To start phase 1, I plotted a 397 jump route following the Scutum Centaurus galactic arm to EOCS AOWSY RF-Y C1-12 in the Norma Expanse region, covering 19,993LY. Without any detours, this left an estimated 3,492 remaining systems to visit after that was complete.

For the stages of the journey, these are being broken down into a phase per log, where you'll find the statistics at the end.

------------ | Phase 1 | ------------

I left Eagle Sector IR-W d1-105 and traveled 86 jumps to reach the Norma Expanse region. Three very different but Terraformable worlds orbiting each other were discovered, which is quite rare:

The following day and at 124 jumps in, an Earth-Like World just over 90Ls from it's star was discovered. It's in the system SLENGIE QI-O B34-8 which is 10,271 away from Sol:

153 jumps in, I discovered a ringed Ammonia world which is rare as well:

At 226 jumps, another Earth like planet was discovered. It's in the system BLU AEC LT-I.d9-78, near 2 Terraformable planets:

I picked up a datastream which installed ED Discovery for my ship and I would definitely recommend it to anyone reading this! With the new tool on the 19/05, I could see I had 5,002 scans and 102 planets mapped in 353 jumps since I last docked. That meant I was 10% of the way through my objective for 50k scans already! Also, with that figure, I could see my average was 14.17 scans per system - so I was correct in thinking it should be above the 12.8 low scan estimate I'd mentioned above (in the planning phase). After aligning my ship's systems into the new feature, I continued on the journey.

After more jumps and when I arrived at the planned destination EOCS AOWSY RF-Y C1-12, I looked for a next destination and saw an interesting Nebula ahead. It was 20,600LY away so I decided to travel 700LY (13 jumps) in that direction to EOCS AOWSY QX-K D8-41.

I enabled the FSD booster again and didn't map any planets (except for 1 in the last system). That was to ensure I got to the new starting point in time to conclude the Phase 1 travels for the night. I put Viatorem into orbit near a Lava world and retired to my cabin.

The progress values for Phase 1 were: [li]Jumps: 410[/li] [li]Distance: 21,027.05Ly[/li] [li]Scans: 6,125 [/li] [li]Planets Mapped: 121 [/li] [li]Value: 234,501,957[/li] [li]Average scans per system: 14.94[/li]

--------------------- | The plan ahead | ---------------------

Phase 2 will take me out of the Norma Expanse region, through Trojans Belt and into The Veils region.

Log Update (5,227 hours) - 6,064 scans in 306 systems.

Log copied from INARA. https://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/80559/45947/

It's been 44 hours since my last update. Since the last log and after leaving the Witch Head Nebula, I took 35 jumps to the Orion and Running man Nebula.

When I arrived at the Orion Trapezium star cluster, I decided to scan a fair few systems towards the outside, before heading to the Orion Nebula Tourist Centre in PMD2009 48 for an overnight rest at the asteroid base.

The next day, I travelled away from the region to be clear of the permit locked systems and be able to plot a course more efficiently. Once clear and unlike my previous efforts of using economical routes (up until leaving the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex), I mostly used fastest jump routes to see a larger variety of locations. I set a loose course for the Cat Paw Nebula 6,000lY away in the next galactic spiral arm. My cat Maia was pleased with the choice!

Firstly, I went to see the Chameleon Nebula which is underneath the better known Coalsack Nebula. It's a very dark and small Nebula which hasn't got any stars within it but I managed to capture a few images, like this one for the log:

44 jumps were taken by this point and remaining after that were 103 jumps covering 5,1415LY. At 60 jumps in / 43 jumps away, I saw a strange group of stars in the NGC 6231 sector that were bright like the core of our galaxy. They were just under 500 light years away so I travelled 8 jumps to have a look. Upon arriving, there were 10 stars in a system which is quite rare so near to the bubble. Here's a high metal planet from the system:

Here's its twin, a lava world over 750Ls from the star.

Another 3 systems were visited and I continued in that direction to visit the NGC 6188 Nebula which was 620LY away and 10 jumps.

4 systems were visited in the nebula and I was very surprised to hear the ship computer telling me that the system was populated. I docked at Morgan's Rock and sold lots of data, then settled down for the night to have a comfortable rest in the asteroid base. Whilst at the base, I did some calculations with the 121 jumps since leaving The Orion Nebula. Based on the lower scan average estimate, I was 24% closer towards the next INARA Explorer Award.

Having a break to think over the next phase, I decided whilst visiting more nebulae, that I'd visit asteroid bases and I'd also disable my FSD booster to visit more systems. I then plotted a course again to the Cat's Paw Nebula which was only 1,615LY away / 31 jumps.

8 systems were visited in the Cat's Paw nebula. Here's a biological site I discovered in the last system, overlooking the nebula:

From there, I went to visit Attenborough's Watch in the Lagoon Nebula, which was 29 jumps away. It was very late when I arrived so I didn't take the time to sell Exploration data, but booked a room first and got some rest. The next day, I sold the data and visited 3 systems before heading off to the Trifid Nebula, 14 jumps away.

I took a slight detour, meaning 19 jumps were covered before I reached the Trifid Sector IR-W D1-52.

The exploration data was sold at Observation Post Epsilon and a course was set through the nebula, covering 13 economical jumps. During these jumps, I also visited a Viride Lagrange Cloud with Rubicundum Collared Pods and Flavum Metallic Crystals:

19 jumps away was the next stop at the Omega Mining Operation station in the Omega Sector VE-Q B5-15 where I sold data and settled down for the night.

The following day, I visited 10 systems in the area and 5 more jumps below the nebula to be more clear of previous commander's travel routes. The next destination was the Eagle Sector IR-W d1-105 which was 38 jumps away. On route, I discovered a Notable Stellar Phenomena containing a Proto-Lagrange cloud with Purpureum Metallic Crystals:

For the final part of the Award progress, I arrived in the Eagle Nebula and docked at the Eagle Sector Secure Facility.  11 more systems were travelled through in the Nebula to visit a Megaship:

Plus, Eagles Landing Planetary base on a very misty planet:

The total scans come to 6,064 in 306 systems - meaning a higher than expected average of 19.8 per system. Like all the systems before, I handed in enough scan data to get allied with the controlling faction and finally, the award was unlocked! o7

I now need to decide whether to visit Colonia, fly home and then to Colonia, fly around the Galaxy, go to Beagle Point or Sag A again... Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for having a read though. Fly safe and stay safe.

Log Update (5,183 hours) - 3,671 scans in 287 systems

Log copied from INARA. https://inara.cz/cmdr-logbook/80559/45766/

It's been 35 hours since my last update, I stuck to my original plan of gaining as many planetary scans as possible and also decided to adjust the loadout of Moribus Astrium (Corvette).

Viatorem (Anaconda) was used initially to fly back to the bubble, buy and engineer an 8A Armoured Power plant which took 44 jumps.

I flew back to the Pleiades Nebula to install it on Moribus Astrium. but realised I'd made a mistake... Instead of having the normal anti Thargoid loadout on the ship, it had the Thargoid scout loadout, so when the Gauss cannons etc were put back on, there wasn't enough MW for the module loadout! Still bearing in the mind the main plan of gaining planetary scan data, I stuck with Moribus Astrium and took an economical route back to the bubble. I purchased another 8A Guardian power plant, re-engineered the 7A Dirty drive thrusters to clean drive and re-engineered the sensors to wide angle (from legacy).

After those were sorted, an extra engineered 5D Hull reinforcement was equipped and I headed off to adjust the FSD with Felicity Farseer. I decided to equip a quick jump drive (which is the only ship in the fleet of 24 with that type) as I won't need to fly the ship far when it's back in the Pleiades Nebula. Plus, having a faster jump drive might come in useful for extreme situations.

With everything up to spec, I set a long route back to Asterope with a detour via Sothis covering 136 jumps, FSS scanning everything along the way and sending probes to any high value / terraformable worlds.

After docking at Copernicus Observatory in Asterope, Moribus Astrium had it's final module changes made and then was put into the stations hanger storage (the fleet ship description has been updated as well).

Viatorem was used for the next phase in travelling to the Witchhead nebula with an economical route, involving 63 jumps.

I then met Chloe Sedesi and increase my reputation to level 5, before visiting the surrounding systems to sell Cartographic data and get allied with new factions since my last visit, 2.5 years ago.

So over the last 5 days, I've jumped 287 times and scanned 3,671 planets meaning I now need 5,837 for the INARA Award of the Explorer lvl 2. Onwards and upwards, back into the void with me!

Log updates no longer here, but on INARA.

As I was previously adding logs here and on INARA, it was very time consuming as they're formatted differently. I had 3 logs to update and had just spent ages getting everything prepared for the 1st. Right at the end of the log, the page froze and the browser eventually restarted itself.

Due to the difficulty of streamlining between the two sites, INARA will now be my central place for logs. It also has personalised fleet pictures, ship descriptions, awards and commander bio - so it makes sense to have all the personal details held together.

Log Update (5,078 hours) - 8,000km total driven in SRV & Material capacities filled.

It's been 62 hours since my last update and as planned, I've been very busy with material gathering.

From the effort to get various items and from all the time spent in SRV, I've now driven a combined total of 8.05MM / 8,050km or nearly 5,000 miles.

I'm glad to announce that all Element, Manufactured and Encoded Engineering materials are at full capacity!

The ship's hold contains 19k mats with 6,300 elements and 12,700 manufactured items including: 10,100 Engineering materials (full) 1,250 Guardian materials (full) 1,350 Thargoid materials (full)

The data log contains 7,163 which are made up of: 6,000 Engineering data (full) 780 Guardian data 383 Thargoid

Here's a few scenes from the efforts:

Now that's complete, the plan is to tackle some mining, probably some combat and maybe some exploration in a while (haven't decided 100% on that yet).

Thanks for having a read through.

Fly safe and stay safe. o7

Log Update (5,016 hours) - Summary of 562 hours

It's been around a year and a half (562 game hours) since my last update with the CQC tracker for the community.

I was sure I'd left a log since then but it appears I hadn't uploaded it to the galactic network.

Since my last update, I've now crossed the milestone of 5000 hours! :cheerful: A brief summary of my objectives since the last log has been:

2018 into 2019

 • I decided to buy another 8 ships and get them all fully Engineered (like the rest of the fleet).
 • I’d planned to go on Distant Worlds 2 but due to technical issues with remote Engineering, I couldn’t complete my upgrades and so decided to take extended shore leave.

2019

 • At the end of April 2019, I came back and despite still having the same Engineering issue which made upgrades take longer, I pressed on and completed the 8 ships.
 • The fleet had 17 ships with various different functions. Click here for details
 • Since then, I'd been using the new ships and adding / adjusting cockpit customisations (Elite G19s app EDDI & VA).
 • I also spent the rest of the year collecting as many materials as possible so any further engineering phases could be done immediately. Elite Dangerous Interesting Locations. 4K 2019

2019-2020

 • At the end of 2019, I purchased more ships for the fleet which brought the total to 24.
 • From my previous efforts in material gathering, they were easily engineered to maximum levels, matching the rest of the fleet.

2020

 • Now in 2020, I'm replenishing the material stocks again and getting ready for fleet carriers in Q2.

As always, if anyone's interested in have a look at +5000 hours in Elite, click here to see my INARA biography for details.

Thanks for having a read through.

Fly safe and keep well. o7

Log Update ( 4,459 hours) - CQC Tracker for the Community - see desc)

It's been just over 2 months since my last update and I've spent a lot of time in CQC :D

I've now reached Prestige 4 and increased my win/loss ratio above 1.0, as I'd planned. CQC Overview Screen

To measure CQC performance going back over the last 3 years and after many nights and weekends effort, I've recently created a CQC Stats spreadsheet that I'm glad to share with the community :D. It's essentially to compare:

 • Time / XP / Credits / Matches / Wins / Losses / Kills / Assists and Deaths.

By entering 8 bits of info it automatically shows:

 • All the averages vs each other, plus your performance at each stage vs the last. That way, it's easy to see how well you're doing against the average. [/li]
 • Graphs for the average + performance of: XP per Match, Credits per Match, Wins per Match, Wins per Loss, Kills per Match, Kills per Death, Assists per Death and Deaths per Match.
 • A sheet called Prestige (image below) which shows all the Levels and Prestige, what you've earnt, how much is left, plus how many matches it will take from your actual performance stats. You'll see the large Prestige Icon change to your level, when you've typed in you XP to the main sheet)

CQC Performance Tracker

Here's my version to show how it works o7

(The yellow cells and sections in the graphs show estimated numbers to fill in the gaps, where some screenshots didn't have all the info. So those yellow parts aren't in the blank version.).

Here's a blank version on Google Drive which you can copy o7

The Stat sheet has 9 main tables. You just need to type the 8 bits of info into the three columns that are white and where I've put comments and typed in ones (D, S & AE)…. and that's it!

Then as you add more, it'll populate the graphs so you can see how it's going and what you'd like to focus on o7.

I've split mine into groups of 40 matches but you can obviously split yours however you'd like.

I hope this is useful. Fly safe.

Log Update ( 4,276 hours) - Bounty & CQC update. Bonus Guardian images

With my long term goals of leveling combat bounties vs bonds and working on CQC mentioned in my last log, I have the first official update!

Bounties: For a couple of months I've concentrated bounty hunting around the Haz Res sites near Shinrarta Dezhra - so will continue with that plan o7. I'll juggle Haz Res with Wing Assasination missions as a general rule to break it up a bit.

CQC: I've started chipping away at CQC again also. managing to cover 3 hours which imporved win/loss ratio and kill/death ratio (with 115 kills).

Admin: Over the last few days, I took care of the Admin side by going through 800 4k images and cutting them down to 98, then adding them to my main collection which now sits at 3310 images. I considered whether to make a Guardian Imgur gallery but I'm leaning towards giving it a miss, as I'm sure there's already plenty out there o7. Here are three bonus images from my collection instead:

Guardian Structure - Anaconda (Darwinia

Guardian Sentinal Explosion

Guardian Structure - SRV
