A small planetary nebula rich in red and green colours, it is centred on a young star system composed of a lonely B star. Ancient records considered this star to be a Wolf-Rayet but it has clearly been shedding mass into the nebula at a prodigious rate, else it would not have survived to its current age. Nevertheless, it retains sufficient mass to be a candidate for a core collapse supernova in the future.
