Astron Research has its origins as a land-based planetary combat unit which reinvented itself as a spacefaring cooperative after completing a lucrative terrestrial contract for stakeholders from Universal Cartographics. The syndicate was initially dedicated purely to intergalactic exploration, profiting by selling stellar research data to Universal Cartographics. In recent times Astron Research's business interests have broadened to include freight operations, asteroid mining, search and rescue missions and a variety of combat orientated roles.
