NGC 6281 is a linear star cluster approximately 190 light-years long. Old earth astronomer John Herschel then described the cluster as both 'pretty bright' and 'pretty rich'. The cluster contains stars from the HD, HIP, CPD and 2MASS star catalogs.

Interesting features include:

  • HIP 83499: An O-type star with a black hole;
  • HIP 83559: Binary water worlds which have thick ammonia atmospheres;
  • HD 322660: An earth-like world with a landable moon.
