Discovered Thargoid signals on planet A 2, four of them, along with some biologicals. Its likely to be barnacles and bark mounds buts lets hope this is a big discovery this time

HIP 19382

This site has a large number of planets with 5 biological sites each.

AB 1 A and AB 1 D have confirmed bark mounds but all the other sites need confirmation.

I ventured onto planet AB 2 B and discovered more bark mounds

Mel 22 Sector JC-V d2-15

This is an active site with 6 Leviathans. The Leviathans are very prominent and well developed. There appear to be a larger than normal number of vents making it look almost like a field of fumeroles.

Pleiades Sector OD-S B4-1

This Thargoid site would make quite a good location for canyon racing

Miskatonic University Galactic Expedition - HIP 17403 - Research Base LV87

Our assignment today was to visit an alien crash site on HIP 17403. I dropped into orbit of planet A 4 A and deployed surface probes. I studied the results of the probe and was delighted to discover two new locations for bark mounds I quicky located the alien ship but there was something else on the scan that made no sense it appeared to be a human settlement on this unihabited airless moon. I set off hoping that I might be able to refresh and refuel even though there was no record of the settlement in the pilot federation.

I approached the settlement from the night side of the moon and noticed immediately a green glow on the horizon as I grew closer I could see that the entire settlement appeared to be swathed in a dense green fog. I hailed the base over communication channels but didn't get a reply. After a few minutes I plucked up courage to land while my other students circled above me.

I launched my SRV into the thick green miasma that seemed to glow eerily rendering the dead base in a pallette of sickly green. Where it not for the mist it would be completely black as the site was devoid of power other than a few data points here and there still blinking. I accessed the base systems and was able to download some logs. I have recorded them for you on the attached video.

It transpires that this was a black research site conducting some illegal and likely highly unethical experiments with Thargoid probes. Certainly the Thargoids took a very dim view of the work undertaken as they attacked the base. My hair stood on end as I heard the unearthly noises made by the probe as they tore it apart with their lasers. Still in shock from what I heard on the log I was completely taken by surprise when a Thargoid vessel tore a hole in the fabric of space above me and materialised out of a black cloud. Its terrible wailing call as the tendrils of light poured out of it search the settlement for who knows what? My chest pounding a drove away trying to avoid those green fingers of light from probing me. The Thargoid satisfied that I was no threat pulled away with a wail and ripped open a green hole in space and disappeared from whence it came.

Miskatonic University Galactic Expedition - Pleiades Sector PN-T b3-0 Barnacle Forest

I had arranged to have a picnic at the Barnacle forest with some students for new year's day. Commanders William Judas Smith, Johnson sky and AsG_Alligator all brought their SRVs to the surface to investigate the Barnacles. Everyone was deeply unsettled by the strange sounds and rumblings and the jagged spires of the Forest. We were hoping to discover Thargoid refueling but none appeared so we took our SRVs far from the site and engaged in a light hearted boisterous race back to the forest. I was no match for the students and limped back with a severely damaged SRV.

When I arrived at the forest my students had gone beserk and set about destroying all the barnacle spikes, I too succumbed to the madness and began firing wildly at everything in sight. I just wanted to destroy all of these grotesque biological growth not caring even as I hit my own students. Then all of a sudden we were notified of a frameshift anomaly. A vast Thargoid vessel oozed out of a tear in space above the main barnacle. Suddenly a wave rippled out of the ship disabling all our SRVs and all we could do was stare mutely in horror as the constellation of lights burst forth from the thargoid and a great beam of light engulfed the barnacle.

The thargoid beam pulled all of the debris from the forest up into its maw and even our SRVs were being dragged towards the barnacle. Commander Johnson sky was pulled up onto a spike and became wedged in. We impotently say there scraping ever closer to the barnacle and our certain doom when suddenly the light stopped. The barnacle vomited out all the debris in a lump and it fell in one large mass on top of the barncle. Our SRVs were freed once more and the Thargoid took off and jumped back to witch space. Shaken we headed back to our ships and departed for our next destination.

Miskatonic University Galactic Expedition 3304-3305 Day 3

I spent the night sleeping fitfully, full of dark dreams that were so vivid that I did not know if I were asleep or awake. I was in my ship in witch space and heard my daughter whispering to me as the void swirled luridly around me. Her words were indistinct almost as if she were talking in an alien language. The ship groaned and shuddered as it was ripped out of hyperspace and I found myself in front of an old dead star giving off a baleful light. I turned on my FSS Scanner and started searching for stellar bodies. Listening carefully to the sounds of the planets I fancied I heard my daughter whisper my name as my scanner revealed an airless moon orbiting a bloated ringed gas giant that harbored ammonia based life forms. I set course for the moon firing probes as I approached. There in the mapping data I saw an anomaly, a crashed ship of alien design. Once more I heard my daugher whispering urgently in my ear. What she said I could not tell but I knew as sure as the darkness of the void that she was there on that ship.

I touched down on the surface of a plateau ringed with jagged spires like the broken teeth in the maw of some cyclopean beast. There in the center emerging from a thick green mist was the broken body of a Thargoid Hydra, this gargantuam broken thing had left a trail of destruction behind it its organic pars stickily strewn around it. I have no recollection of leaving the ship but the next thing I knew I was climbing up to the milky central eye, grasping at oozing Thargoid entrails that coated my suit in the wet fluids of the broken ship. I peered through the milky aperture and saw something writhing within. The hear on my back stood on end and I felt a primordial terror. I pulled a rock pick from my tool belt and began to tear at the milky aperture, ripping it apart. It suddenly split open right down the middle and there in front of me covered in steaming green slime was my daughter. Her eyes flicked open and she screamed Daddy, then tentacles enfolded here and reached up through the aperture pulling me in through the slimes. Instead of terror I now felt peace, I closed my eyes, my daughter and I would finally know peace together.

Then I woke with start. It had all been a dream.

Miskatonic University Galactic Expedition 3304-3305 Day 1

How Celaeno has changed since I first jumped into the system a year ago in search of fragments of the Great Library. Since then the system has gained a graceful coriolis starport nestling in the rings, its lofty statues and leafy gardens hold no joy for me now. The entire system is encircled by a grotesque armada of thargoids poised to tear everything down. As I walk through the green space and look up at the statues reaching aspirationally upwards I have a vision of a hot hellish nightmare, the starport shattered, the statues, no longer reaching for the stars but imploring for help, as the flames engulf them. Then I blink and normality is resumed.

But what is normality these days?

I have been working feverishly to prepare for the trip, collecting the gelatinous thargoid sensors and probes that we will need to unlock the secrets of the surface sites. Then at the last minute I am called back to the sanitorium. My ailing daughter has had another episode. Her night wanderings have claimed more victims. The doctors want to performs some tests, more invasive tests and they need my consent. I visit her in the lab, she is confused and frightened. She holds onto me tight, pleading with me. "Daddy, don't let them tie me down." with tears in my eyes I tell her "I won't let them" as I gently but firmly press her to to the table and strap her arms down. I kiss her one last time and turn away as the technicians briskly attach all the devices and electrodes. Her screams are drowned out by the pounding in my head as I walk alone back to my ship where the thargoid devices wait for me, chittering things that neither alive nor dead, as am I.

I jump to HIP 17862 and am ambushed by a pirate. He tells me "I want what's in your hold" I laugh ruefully. "You really don't." I tell him. "You really don't".

Though I craved the oblivion of death something in me cracked and I fought like the possessed. Though my ship was armed for anti thargoid combat, his Vulture was no match. As his crippled ship disintegrated around him he begged for mercy, but devoid of compassion, like a machine, I kept my finger on the trigger until there was too little left to target.

I dropped to the surface of planet 11 E and began gathering data mechanically at the dead thargoids site ignoring the students working alongside me. This thargoid site is dead and everything may as well be.

Christmas Cookery

I took some time out from the Miskatonic University Expedition to record a special seasonal cookery program abort the Gnosis for Hutton Orbital Radio,. Sadly things did not go entirely to plan..

Miskatonic University Galactic Expedition 3303 - Day 7

I have had some regretable news today I have had my request for a permit for Polaris denied. Words cannot describe how furious I am. I have attached the corresponence for you to see the civil servant's casual denial of scientific enquiry and my erudite response.

Access Denied

Needless to say, I have a plan. The nearest system to Solaris is Wredguia PC-G b39-2. It is only 5.2ly distant.

The maximum Supercruise speed is 2,001c and takes 57 min to reach. It would take 4h 22m 51s to travel 1 light year at maximum Supercruise speed.

My rough estimate suggest that it would take around 24 hours to cover the distance to Polaris.

Clearly such an undertaking requires careful planning and supplies. I have a little arrangement with the Dean. I have asked him to visit our benefactor Rocketeer Senior to enquire after his healh and assist him in any way possible. The unfortunate man you may remember has been stricken by a terrible malaise that the finest physicians are still unable to determine the cause of.

The Dean tells me that the poor man is completely insensible whispering curses in a gutteral language that none can understand and fill all who hear them with dread and a sense of foreboding that churns the stomach. The Dean has been able to be of some help. Our benefactor has a weakness of the limbs which make it difficult for him to even lift a pen. The Dean has been helping him steady his hand to sign a variety of financial instruments. Fortunately the Dean has a sample of Rocketeer Senoir's signature so he can make sure there is no chance of unfortunate misunderstandigs.

Our benefactor has very generously agreed, by rolling his eyes until only the whites are visible and drooling, to fund our supercruise attempt. So I have send the Dean a little shopping list.

I need a fresh supply of Agnipe Rush as I have almost competely run out. Agnipe Rush is a neurological stimulant only available in Aganippe. Often used to temporarily increase the user's memory retention and awareness, it is a favourite among students and scholars. Some people have claimed that excessive use and abuse of the compound has been linked with psychotic episodes and hallucinations but that is just nonsense, Ive just been a little tired lately that is all.

I will of course need some comestibles: Centauri Mega Gin, Bast Snake Gin, Ceti Rabbits, Deuringas Truffles, HIP Proto Squid, Jaroua Rice, Azure Milk, Lavian Brandy and of course Kamitra Cigars to go with them. And some Void Extract Coffee to keep me alert,

For the ship we require Military Composite Bulkheads, four AFMUs, an upgraded main fuel tank and two auxiliarys and finally 6A prismatic shield generator and boosters. It won't be cheap but hopefully it wil be enough to keep the hull from be scrubbed away by micrometiorites before we get to Polaris.

Despite the earlier bad news, my spirits are lifted.
