The Arkgamanon Mountain Range

Pyramoe PM-X b33-6 (The Arkgamanon Mountain Range)

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

The Arkgamanon Mountain Range...well, that's where I think I am. I'm close to the coordinates and it looks like the picture, but can't be sure. Plus I'm the only one here. There was at least one ship leaving the vicinity when I was approaching the planet and I thought I picked another up just after I landed. But now....I'm here alone again. Took a picture. Off for a quick drive.

Managed to roll my SRV while mucking about; probably should be on my way. I need to get travelling. And sleep. Should probably sleep...

Off we go again

Had a few days off.

New waypoint revealed. Time to go!

Must update this log with where I've been....

A jump nearly too far !!

Traikoa FL-P e5-4 (Black Treasure)

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

"Hull integrity…" etc. etc.....That's the warning right? You know, the one you get when you get too close to a star. Well, jumping into a system where the arrival point is a Black Hole! Guess what happens? Yes, the warning. There wasn't even a chance to pull back, slow down, change course etc. etc. Nope it's: "Here you go, have fun with this one commander, hope your ship is welded nicely together!"

Well, luckily it is...and I have survived to have a look around.

EVERYTHING IS OVERHEATING! Ahh, no, it's fine now. Glad I have my whisky.

There's one planet here, but I can't land on it. Pity. Would be very cool to land on a planet where theoretically you can't see anything. Plus, I like to think there's some ancient alien civilisation down there, lost to the passing of time, no history, no future. I think it may be time for sleep...

There's a tourist beacon here. Feels a bit less of an adventure when you realise the rich come here on their cruise liners and take selfies in front of the black hole.

Arriving at the tourist beacon: Ok, yeah, you can get very cool pictures here. There were some Orca's flying around as a reminder we're not really in the wildernesses of the galaxy here. But still, this is a very close view of a black hole (yes, I know I'm looking at what's behind it, more than what it is...). I should watch Interstellar again. And get on with my physics studying.

Tourist spot it may be, but it's still very cool.

Space rocks.

Until next time, see you in the black (hole)..get it!

A piano plays in the background...

There's something (something I don't yet know what) about landing on a planet that looks like no one has ever stepped foot on.

I sit in my SRV looking back at Iphigenia. A piano plays in the background.

It's night here. There's a mountain range somewhere in the distance, the centre of the Milky Way peeping put above the horizon.

I'm probably alone.

I hope I'm alone....

Lot's of rocks. I pick up a few materials. But I should be sleeping. Tomorrow is another day.

The View

HR 6164 (The View)

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

Arrived at 'The View'...well I can see why they call it that. My landing went ok, but then again I had heard a few warnings that the planet had higher than normal G, so I took it slowly and came in at a shallow angle. Took a few pictures and posted one to the DW2 chat. Gets the conversation going, so I've had a bit of contact. Few ships popping up as well.....I'm not completely alone out here!

Didn't get too near the neutron star or black holes. Maybe another day....but that's enough risk taking for the moment.

Off we go again!

Until next time....

See you in the black.

Shapley 1

Shapley 1

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

Off to HR 6164, known as 'The View'...apparently...I'll look that up at some point. But first, find somewhere to park for the night.

I wonder if anyone is reading these logbooks?

Currently looking at the nebula at Shapley 1. Must take some pictures.

Not travelled at lot in an hour. Will need to 'speed up'.

DW2 - Time to get going!

Somewhere outside Brooks Point, Pallaeni A 1

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

So I missed the European Launch due to other commitments. The US launch isn't for another 90 mins, so I'll get going now. It would have been good to leave with some of the others, but hopefully there will be more chances in the future.

The first waypoint has been shared: Omega Sector VE-Q b5-15. That's 5,556.60 lys away...time to get going!

First 'mini'? waypoint to head to: Shapley 1.

Until next time.

See you in the black.

Ready for launch

Arrived at Brooks Point about 30 minutes ago. Landed. Said hello to anyone out there...I think.. Time for bed. Proper logbook entry to follow sometime later.

First Logbook Entry - DW2 imminent

Carter Point, Rhea

Iphigenia [JO-09A] (Asp Explorer)

In less than 20 hours, Distant Worlds 2 will embark and I am part of it. I signed up quite late, but I'm just about prepared (I think!). If I had seen the expedition earlier, I might have been able to outfit my ship a little better!

My current jump range is just over 42ly (unladen 44.98), so nowhere near the 60+ I've seen on some ships, but adequate for the journey. Since the start of the year I have logged flight time on EDSM: 9,666.33 ly at present. On the downside that only works out at an average of 743.6 ly a day. On the plus side however, I have been doing the occasional jobs and even a little combat, so I've not been at 100% so to speak.

If we are to travel c. 4,500 ly a week that will mean a good few hours of jumping. Five hours at least? Who knows....we shall see.

Now, I think it is time to head to Pallaeni and wait until launch.

Until next time. See you in the black.
