Deep in the Elysian Shores sits this Green Gas Giant, not far from the road to the Heart and Soul nebulae. It's also relatively close to its parent star - approx. 2,500 ls away. While a fair number of Green Gas Giants only show small patches of green, this one is mostly green instead, with only smaller areas covered in the "original" purple of this Class III Gas Giant.

It's named after Rhadamanthus from ancient Greek mythology, a wise Cretan king who dwelled in Elysium - and, according to some authors, even ruled there, and judged the dead.

Body BC 1 in the system is a massive landable planet that orbits two brown dwarf stars closely. The planet has a radius of 19,383 km, a surface gravity of 2.25 g, and is tidally locked with its stars. The brown dwarfs are in a close binary orbit themselves, so the view from the planet can create gorgeous views. The system itself is some distance (855 ly) above the galactic plane as well.

Chraufai ND-J d9-2 provides many great vistas, but the main attraction is the view from A 4 b. Looking towards its parent body of A 4 gives you a stunning view of its massive 1.5 ls wide outer ring through the blue, or orange, haze of its atmosphere.

Not only does this system have beautiful views, but it also holds two rocky worlds with water atmospheres that have 9 biological signals each.

For any commanders that have not had luck in finding Helium Rich Gas Giants (HRGGs), this system has 6 orbiting the main star.

Discovered in May 3308, this planet is the current record holder for the largest Ammonia World ever discovered. It also features an impressive ring system: the inner ring is icy with a total width of 0.64 ls. The sight of the rings is what explorers first see when they near the planet, they are visible from quite a distance.

The three inner moons are shepherd moons, pointing to a much larger hidden outer icy ring which has a total width of roughly 54 ls. The outer ring does not act as an 'explorer's net', however. What's more, the fourth moon has four nested moons of its own.

This star system also contains 35 biological signals across 8 landable moons, most of which feature thin carbon dioxide atmospheres. More information on other views can be found in the logs below.

The main star of this system is a neutron star, but the feature that gets overlooked by travelers of the Neutron Highway is that this system is home to a rather pink T type star with a landable, large radius icy planet (C 1) in an eccentric orbit that passes close to the star every 4.9 hours.

The surfaces of the bodies are only separated by 94,000 km at the closest point, giving some spectacular on foot views of the brown dwarf from the mountaintops.

The Thracian Nebula is situated on the Perseus galactic arm, in the Vulcan Gate region. The nebula itself is a remnant from a supernova, and although the central star had collapsed into a black hole, the light comes from two other stars in the system.

The Ovomly sector in the Vulcan Gate region was at first notable for being inaccessible in the early days of exploration, when not only could frame shift drives not lock on to its systems, but querying their data from the galaxy map had also produced glitches in ship computers. However, once Universal Cartographics fixed the data corruption issue, the sector became accessible once again. Subsequent explorers found no anomalies in the sector, and after the initial scouting, it attracted little attention.

Some years later, in 3305, the sector became an area of interest once again when unique Notable Stellar Phenomena were found there: Torus Molluscs, which are to date the only spaceborne life known to live in the vicinity of white dwarf stars.

These molluscs are quite small, and rather harmless. Instead of attacking any spacecraft that disturbs them, as a number of other lifeforms do, these retreat when approached instead.

The rare Calcite Plates can also be found here. These are large structures created by tiny organics, only present in relatively smaller areas of the galaxy.

Five variants of Torus Molluscs have been found to date:

Located deep in the Vulcan Gate region, this moon is characterized by thin overlapping icy rings. The name comes from Greek mythology: Philomela wove a robe that told her sad story. The robe gave her strength for her revenge.

The sky of the moon B 1 b is dominated by the ringed helium-rich gas giant B 1 and its outer radius of 1.5 million kilometers, with the shepherd moon B 1 a situated between them.

The low surface temperature of just 109 K allows only a variation of two species. The Fonticulua Campestris offer nice photo opportunities.

This system holds a gas giant with a wide ring system. Between two of the large rings are 3 bodies (Dehe PP-V d3-57 B 2 c, d & e) sharing a common center of mass, which itself orbits the parent gas giant itself. They are very close together and as a result, they orbit the barycenter rather quickly: the inner 2 moons in 9.5 hours and the outer moon in 1.5 days.

There is also a ringed life-bearing atmospheric moon with high orbital inclination to get a great view of the entirety of the gas giant's ring system.

The Crooki AA-A h1 nebula, nicknamed the Lonely Lantern nebula, is the westernmost one in the galaxy. It's a dark cloud that's not much larger than most planetary nebulae though. There are no stars inside of it, so it can only be viewed from the outside. However, as it's a dark cloud that's 700 ly above the galactic plane, it's usually only visible if it's viewed with the Milky Way behind it.

Being this far up above the Perseus Arm offers some good views of the galaxy instead. Intrepid pilots flying ships with high jump ranges can travel as far as 1,600 ly above to get an even better view.

The fifth planet in this system is a class III gas giant, and its second moon, 5 b, is an Earth-like world. Such moons are already rare, but what makes this one even more rare is that it has a nested moon of its own. Unlike its parent, that nested moon is landable, and it has surface volcanism too.

In such orbital configurations, the nested moon tends to orbit its parent moon quite close by, and this is the case here as well. Explorers who land on 5 b a will see the Earth-like world appear large on the sky. This can make for some spectacular sights, and Commanders interested in making photographs can also include the volcanic vents and geysers of the nested moon in their pictures too.

There is more to this system, however: the third moon of the class III gas giant, 5 c, is a gas giant as well, with water-based life. The three moon of Bya Phla VE-H d10-16 5 resemble a small system of their own. The wider system also includes a ringed water world, and a water giant as the farthest planet.
