The story of how I got to where I am today

Biography of a cloud of Helium isotope seven

I was born in a universe not unlike this one, with the major differences being that life based on cells was only rumored about. We only knew about isotope lifeforms, as the researcher who found me would name my species. Every element has isotopes, basically atoms that have the same number of protons but different numbers of neutrons (Totally didn’t copy that from the science codex). Where I come from, there’s more to isotopes than that though, because when enough isotope atoms come together, whatever object they formed becomes sentient. I am one of those lifeforms, and in your universe my life would have been very short, as Helium 7 isotopes last less than a second here, before they decay into hydrogen. Another difference between your universe and mine, as I’m essentially immortal. I’m older than the oldest human and have been travelling through space longer than anyone here. Even though it was in my universe and not in this one. I was always an explorer at heart. First thing I did when I was born was leave the nebula that birthed me. After being taught about humanity by the scientist who found me, I decided to earn my pilots license in the Pilots Federation. Then I left Achenar, the system I found myself in after getting sucked into the wormhole that brought me into this universe. I spent a lot of time on Capitol though, so I saw it as my home for years. Now Colonia is my home. I’m not sure when I’ll see it again. Shortly after I made Colonia my home, the urge to explore was back, and I embarked on a voyage with no planned end. I’m using Distant Worlds 2 to get myself as far away from inhabited space as possible, and then I’ll plot 1 000-lightyear economic routes into random directions to explore as much as I can.
