A few days ago, I thought to myself, "Self, let's go to Sagittarius A*."

I hop into my Asp Explorer (currently engineered to a modest 34LY), and plot a route to a nebula about 9,000LY from Sol. Things are going smoothly for the first few flights. I honk and use my FSS on each system in the jump thus far.

Fast forward to today. I realize I have been at this for a few hours now, and I've only made it ~2K LY from Sol. I decide I'm going to just honk each system, scoop, and jump to the next. I needed to step outside for a few minutes, so I made sure the star I was warping to was 'safe,' throttled down in witch space, and stepped out.

10 minutes later I return to that fateful screen...

Your ship has been destroyed.

EDDiscovery says it was heat damage.

I paid my rebuy, and respawned at Galileo in Sol.

I quit the game and went swimming.

Thus ends my first expedition... At only 1/8th of the goal.

I think I'll work on the Guardian FSD booster...
