The Spiral Planetary Nebula (NGC 5189) is the result of the expulsion of material from Wolf-Rayet star KN Muscae. This Wolf-Rayet is of unusually low mass, indicating it may have shed most outer layers and be near the end of its' current phase of life. 21st century astronomers identified a white-dwarf companion star; as of 3303, this companion could not be found.

Due to the light hues of this nebula, it is difficult to see from inside the nebula and best observed from a nearby star system.
