NGC 6546 is an open cluster in the constellation Sagittarius (the Archer) approximately 4,000 light years from Earth. It contains some 87 stars of different spectral types and like Messier 21 it is connected to the Sagittarius OB1 stellar association. It was discovered the object on June 27, 1837 by John Herschel.
