LOG 11NOV3307-1: Preparation is set. Waiting for departure.

It took me three whole days to finally get an Engineered FSD V1 from a tech broker.

The whole process took longer than I anticipated, of course. Thought I had quite a copious inventory of materials but apparently, it was the necessary one that I lacked the most.

Luckily, Jackson allowed me to filled that hole fairly quickly. Accidentally stumbled on a patch of field where precious ores littered across the surface. A blessing, really. Didn't want to spend more time on that bumpy, suffocating high-G planet a second longer than necessary.

But no matter, I got what I needed: a Precious 3 lightyears range boost for my Diamondback Explorer "The Oculus III"

Three days worth of time, 1 lightyear each.

...I burst out laughing when I saw what the "mystical" module did to my jump range. Maintenance crew stared at me like he's looking like a looney. The puzzlement and concern made me laugh even more.

These sentiments are well justified in my opinion. Sometimes I question my own sanity for going through such trouble for something so insignificant.

I mean, it does allow me some room to linger on certain planets and collect biological data...

But that's beyond the point.

This module was the last hardware I needed for the expedition. Supplies are already onboard, with enough food and water that will last at least three months. AFMU was refueled and hull repair limpets are restocked. Checklists are double checked and triple checked. I even had a friend re-check them for me.

And just like that, I'm ready to set out.

Hopefully nothing will happen during the trip.

Hopefully.
