Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 8 (Binarys's Everywhere)

Okay I knew this would happen eventually but I have just had my first Close Binary Star encounter of DW2. The angle I came in at was a bit worrying but my ship didn't heat up that much, I would say that this was only a minor brownseat moment, I have been in a close trinary that had a Neutron Star in it before, that was a full brownseat.

I ended up coming across multiple system with binary stars relatively close to each other. One system had a tiny metal rich body orbiting around the second star. I landed at a fumarole site where both star were clearly visible at low angles so I could get some pictures and somehow despite both suns being close and visible, it was completely dark. This made no sense to me and when I went round to the part of the world that was facing the closer star the surface lit up like it should, but when I went the other way, it didn't. I left that tiny world deciding that I would never be able to make sense of it. I went on to find Binary Water Worlds only a few jumps later.

I swear I have ran into a binary star hotzone (no pun intended).

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 7 (Moving Forward)

Looks like were heading for the Conflux abandoned settelments. I had kind of suspected that we would go there, as a Point of Interest if not a Waypoint. I have been there a few times before and they can sometimes be creepy. I still would like to look round there again. I only went to the alpha and the delta site last time.

Nothing much has happened so far apart for a few terraformable worlds and stopping by NGC 6629. I am ending today at Eagle's Landing. I will hopefully find something interesting in the next few days.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 6 (Maxed Out)

We have done it, the community goals have finished and we got the Mining community goal all the way to tier 11. This leaves us with an interesting question. Do we move on now or do we stick around. It turned out that we are to stay around here till the the 27th of January which gives us a few days to rest and have a look around.

Earlier today I ran into some Lagrange Clouds. I ran into 3 of then one was blue, one was a dark red which was very creepy and one was pink. I haven't ran into any of these before, this i because last time I was on a big exploration trip, we didn't have the ability to detect these. We also didn't have the probes back then. I had a fun time flying the the Lagrange Clouds in my ship launched fighter.

Now I am back a the Omega asteroid base, not sure what to do next. The community goal has been exhausting so I think I rest until the 27th when I will know where to go.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 5 (Mining and Shooting)

My Type-6 and my Vulture arrived 2 days ago and I have been Mining in my Type-6 and Bounty Hunting in my Vulture since then. The community goal for Mining is close to finishing and has gone way better than most or us have expected.

I am in the top 25% for the Mining community goal, which in my Type-6 ended up being very hard work, (I didn't focus on mining very much back in the bubble). There was only so much I could bring in at any given time. For the bounty hunting my Vulture proved itself up to the task but I would like to engineer it a lot more when I get back to the bubble. Now that I think about it, that's the case with almost all of my ships.

I really want to see how this so called new station in the Galactic Core will turn out but I guess I won't find out until Waypoint 7, might as well do what i can for it in the meantime.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 4 (Mining Camp)

Looks like we will be here for some time. It has been decided that we are to stick around till the mining community goal is done. We are probably going to be staying around the Omega Nebula for a few days, because of this I am transferring over a Type-6 and a Vulture so I can help out with the event.

I will have to wait for the transfer to finish but until then I will be listening to Distant Radio.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 3 (Supercluster Suprises)

2 day ago I made it to the area where our next waypoint is in the Omega Nebula. The official meetup is on Friday so I had a few days to have a look around the region for anything interesting. I found water ice geysers in a tight canyon where landing was really hard ( not impossible though). The water the geysers was shooting out was green and often coming out at unusual angles.

After leaving the geysers I decided to have a look in the PW2010 Supercluster which i found Blattinus Biolumiesent Anemones on Multiple Moons in the supercluster. I also found many Geological sites ranging from Gas Vents to fumaroles.

I know that there are many different types of Anemones but somehow all of the ones I found were the Blattinus Bio ( screw it I not saying that every time, I'm just gonna call them space pumpkins). I am not sure why Type BB Space pumpkins keep showing up but I am sure there is a connection somewhere.

Anyway a mining operation has just started to gather materials for building a station near Sagittarius A. A lot of the other explorers brought mining gear for this, I didn't but I am interested to see how this works out.

After all the searching round the supercluster I have decided to take it easy for a bit, although I might have to be off again soon.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 2 (It Has Begun)

This is it , we have officially started Distant Worlds 2. When we all met up in the Pallaeni System I met up with many other CMDRs, some I knew from before, and others who are completely new.

Turns out that that there a lots of others who are also bringing Guardian fighters as well. A lot of us went over what they were executed about, what they wanted to find and about how to best deal with dangerous situations. ( We will probably forget how to due to space madness tee hee).

Seeing and being part of the Huge Mass Jump was amazing. over 10000 CMDRs all going on this one expedition, no expedition has ever happening on this scale before and I am sure all of them will have their own story to tell.

I have already made some interesting finds. From Huge Gas planets to tiny Metal rich bodies. I used Probes to map several worlds including a Teraformable Water World. There is a planet in the Lagoon Nebula with both Bark Mounds and Lava Spouts.

I end Today in the Lagoon Nebula, our next Waypoint is in the Omega Nebula in 4 days. I already past halfway there so I don't stress myself later trying to make it on time. I wonder what everyone else is up to.

Distant Worlds 2 Log Entry 1 (Pre-Departure)

It is just 1 Day till departure, I have everything ready to go. I am overloaded with anticipation for what I will find , what will happen and how much fun will we all have.

My ship is a Vibrant Green Anaconda (ship name: DSS Yanzor) which has 4 SRVs, Repair Limpets and an SLF Bay which has Imperial fighters and Guardian fighters which were a lot of work to get hold. I wonder how many of the others will also have Guardian Fighters. I wouldn't be surprised if many others also went to all the trouble it takes to do so.

With everything done and ready to go I just have to wait for Tommaroww's Meetup at Pallaeni for the start of Distant Worlds 2.
