2 Days ago i embarked on an Exploration Journey that would take me through 379 different star systems (excluding start and end) across half the milky way galaxy. I spent a about 20hours total flying in my 45LY range Asp Explorer from Jacques Station in Colonia back Home to Jameson Memorial.

Prior to this, the furthest i had ever travelled without docking was about 4000 LY. I got to Colonia via hitching a ride on a Fleet Carrier. I was always afraid of travelling long distances solo in the event that i blow up with all the precious exploration data midway. But, as this was something that was on my checklist of things to accomplish in ED, i took the plunge and made the journey happen.

I've also wondered what kind of exploration profits i'd be getting for a 1-way trip, where i try to take the shortest route possible, neutron stars included, albeit 3000 LY away from the "Highway".

What i did in the end was carve a "C"ish shaped pathway from start to finish. So, out of all of the systems visited, i was the first to discover a total of exactly 300 star systems. This number includes 1 Black Hole system, 15 Neutron Star Systems, 6 systems with Earth-Like-Worlds (7 ELWs in total), as well as many other interesting finds! (exploration pics and ship details etc will be in a separate log)

For the record, my journey was mainly filtered to Class A/F stars, along with other rare stars in order to be able to have the highest chance of finding an Earth-Like. I FSS-ed about 90% of the newly discovered systems, leaving out those with only icy rocks / rocky planets. I DSS-ed every Terraform-able planet i came across, and made First Footfall on a couple of interesting ones.

I skipped every system that was not newly discovered, unless they had ELW/WW in them.

EDSM estimated my total exploration payout to be 287,427,339, but after selling all my data, turns out the actual amount made was 348,162,770!

In the end, for 20 hours of exploration, i travelled over 20,000 LYs, made 350m, put my name on 300 different star systems and thousands of planets, and saw some really incredible sights along the way. I'd say it was well-worth it!
