BPE Finished!

Finally completed the Beagle Point Expedition. Made a tidy little sum of credits as well, netted about 1.4 billion. This should keep me set for my bucket list of things I want to complete.

Some of these items are:

  • Guardian tech
  • Tech broker unlocks
  • Finish engineers (finally)
  • Finish off my trade and combat ranks to elite
  • CQC ranked to elite (very long term goal since I can never seem to find matches when I'm able to play)

I'll finally be able to take out some of the combat ships I have sitting mothballed, once I unlock the engineers and complete the process on them.

Making great progress

Shouldn't have any trouble making the March 31st deadline, knocking down a way point or two each week, which should speed up as the latter way points appear to be closer together and shouldn't have large areas of permit locked space in the way that cause the in game route plotter to continually fail.

Break Over, I'm back.... mostly.

Got really burned out with exploration and missed out on most of the beyond patches, being stuck out on the BPE route, and being too stubborn to self destruct to take the quick route back.

Now that 3.3 has hit with the major exploration overhaul, I'm having a ton of fun with the game again. I also noticed that the end date of the BPE has been pushed out to March 31 '19, so I have a shot at actually finishing it this time.

I won't be spending as much time as I have, spread my attention out over other interests to try and keep from getting burn out. I do plan on finishing the expedition by the new end date, though I'm in no hurry to get back.

It will be nice to get back, offload all this data, which should net me a very healthy sum, then go build and play with some of these new ships.

I slept too long!

Went into the sleep pod for an extended session, but it appears that I had fat fingered the wake up date and am now months behind the expedition, just barely hitting Waypoint 7. Looks like if I want to complete the expedition on time I'll need to expedite my travels. Sad to say that I'll have to limit my side trips and stay focused on progress until I'm either caught up or feel confident that I can complete the expedition on time.

The Grissom is a tough ship, she's been abused a bit during the beginning legs of the trip, though I have gone close to 60K LY to make it to Waypoint 7 so far, she'll be able to handle being pushed for speed for the next couple of months.

Old netlogs

This weekend I'll try plugging in my old HDD to see if I can dig out any of my old net logs, would be nice to have my first trip to Sag. A reflected on my travel map.

BPE Waypoint 3

Hit Waypoint 3 early Monday morning, still on the weekend for me. I then finally visited the Great Annihilator, then headed out to see a point of interest system a bit out of the way. Was well worth it to see and get screenshots of binary Earth-like worlds. I should be able to get to Waypoint 4 by the end of the work week as well as a few more systems of interest.

BPE Waypoint 2 Reached

While I'm still quite a ways behind the main expedition group, I should be catching up rather quickly. I had a lot of points of interest and tourist systems I wanted to visit on the expedition. Most of these systems will be hit before I hit Sagittarius A*. Once I pass these the trip pace should increase a great deal.

I should be hitting Waypoint 3 this weekend and Waypoint 4 by the end of the work week after. If I can match that pace I should be able to catch up to the expedition group within 2.

Once I've caught up I'll have to decide if I want to try to make some meetups or simply continue through the expedition route to get the data back to my wing for the influence gains I can spread out over several days.

BPE Started

I have officially begun my run for the Beagle Point Expedition. I started about 12 days late, due to some wing related stuff I needed to get cleared off before heading out for a lengthy exploration trip.

I did compile a nice list of points of interest to see, based on some of the screenshots. So far these have not disappointed, except for one that I have no idea why I even decided it was worth the trip out to see it. Oh well, it was only 2300 LY out of the way, out and back to the main path.

The Kyloall Oddity was amazing and I've added The Mysterious Light to my route.

So far I'm keeping well above my desired rate of 1mil in scan data per 1k LY, just too much good stuff to scan.

Looks like I'll be leaving even later for the Expedition

Looking more and more like a mid-late Feb launch to join the BPE. The BGS work in Colonia for my Wing is showing no signs of slowing. If we can pull in some fresh meat from The Bubble to take over I could still launch end of Jan, early Feb. Either way I'll likely be doing selective scanning and a little honk+scoop to catch up.

I've settled on 3-5mil per 1k LY is easy enough to get and should allow me to progress as a reasonably fast pace. Slowing when I get near Beagle Point to really take in the area and try to get a system or few with my name on them out there.

I have been putting together a list of systems that I'll be adding to my route that look interest.

Grissom Shakedown: Complete

I have completed my shakedown voyage of the Grissom in preparation for taking her on a much longer trip on the Beagle Point Expedition (BPE). The vessel performed admirably and above expectations.

As an added bonus, during this trip I had acquired enough data to gain a promotion to Elite Explorer from the Pilot's Federation.
