Went on DW2. Got to Beagle, got my badge. Travelled to Semotus Beacon, seen Beauty and the Beast, Fireshadow and Thanducs Retreat. Coming back, passed Jackson's Blue Light Nebula a few days ago. Neutron jumping much. Tired. Around 20k to Explorer's Anchorage. Will stop at Heavenly Mists to finally see those damn mists.

Orion Nebula Tourist Centre review

Should be renamed "Orion Nebula Tourist Trap". Very poor shipyard service. Ordered new paint job for my ship - they painted only the spots, where original paint was still present! Forced me to pay extra for new undercoat! Deck master called me "bloody tourist" and "Sunday explorer" when I complained. Facilities dirty. Better views in other places nearby (Spirograph!). 2/5 stars.

4G

Don'ts: do not roll to check, if your dorsal thrusters can take it. They can't, you won't recover, even flaring up and boosting. You'll lose 88% of your hull and your canopy. Technically, you'll be on the ground, but have to rush to Indra, before you life supports gives up. Dos: do your thing. Be sure to exit the glide with enough altitude to stabilise your hover. Be gentle on the thrust. Pay attention to you rate of descent.

Perfect touchdown on second attempt.

My first high G landing.

2.66 G. I already knew, that this was mild. The real challenge was supposed to be the heat, as the planet was located in star's corona. "2 heatsinks for landing, 2 heatsinks for departure" I've read. We'll either not anymore, or it's a bug. Used 0.

CMDR Lordic Bardic has offered to fly with me and it was probably the best multiplayer experience I've ever had. Don't get me wrong - I love the good old thrill of battle, but after doing it for, ehm, 30 or so years, well, you get used to this kind of kick. High G landing is something different, like flying gigantic Lunar Landing game. Doing it with a veteran CMDR was like skydiving in tandem. My pulse was racing when we came out of the glide. Alicja's Curiosity handled like a brick, but the descent was uneventful - I've used "flight assist off" trick to be safe. We've landed on an edge of a crater and had tons of fun taking photos and messing around in SRVs.

I planned to go and see Aquarius before Gnosis jumps, but it's an old system and has been permit locked after it was discovered. I went to see Keck Binary Pulsar instead. Then I did 1kLy trip to HIP 38064 to land on a high G body there. For fun and practice. First I've landed on 2G planet there - one of the ringed binaries in star corona. It was hotter than Hades Edge, started to see some smoke, but heatsinks were not needed. Smooth landing, then I've half-killed myself during ascent (selfie-inflicted hull damage). There was a tourist beacon there, advertising twin planetary rings, but I arrived after sunset (and ringset). 3.12 G body was beautiful. Smooth landing too. I'm testing "flare up, reverse thrust" technique. I have to make some experiments/calculations to prepare landing profiles for high-G bodies.

After the next jump, I'm going to HIP 26176 A3 (if routing allows). 5.86G. HR 1185 A4 (4.12G) looks reachable (1.3 kLy) too. And I will start with HD 43193 (Oochors Lighthouse), I have to try and fly between them plusars.

Long time no see

A lot of activity, not much time to write the log. I went on Guardian Odyssey, met a bunch of Commanders, seen some guardian sites, collected some blueprints and mats. Went back. Bought a Krait. Couldn't afford perfect build, but the one I done was good enough. Did a grind for focus crystals in CZ. Unlocked GFSD booster (fantastic piece of equipment). Unlocked some engineers. Engineered FSD to the max, lv3 dirty thrusters, overcharged power plant. Went to collect some mats from brain trees and barnacles. Visited Dav's Hope, because why not. Now I'm on Gnosis, doing a little sightseeing (Brüder Grimm, Oochorrs Lighhouse) while I wait for the jump to closed systems in Cone Sector. Yesterday I did my first 2G landing on Hades Edge, with help and guidance from CMDR Lodrik Bardic. Fantastic experience. We'll do Achenar 3 when I'm back from Cone, in October.

Let's be realistic

It took me 3 weeks to get to Crescent Sector, there's no way I can get to Cygnus X-1 and back in time to join the expedition. I wasn't flying today, and I won't tomorrow either (total eclipse of the moon, yay!). I'm coming back to the bubble starting Saturday, it's around 100 jumps. Should be there by Wednesday, if I'm lucky.

Rush to the black holes

No more neutron star hunting, I'm rushing towards V404 Cygni. Around 60 jumps remaining.

Terraformable HMC and WW on first jump. Not bad.

Medusa's Rock

First inhabited system since embarking. For some, 3 weeks is nothing. For me, it's a lot. Repaired stupid damages (lucky me, I damage my ship only because of my stupidity). Now shower and rest. Tomorrow I'm going to do some neutron star hopping around Crescent Nebula, then steer towards V404 Cygni. Then V1357. Then we'll see.

Yesterday I saw a full fledged solar flare while fuel scooping. Beautiful. That was my first. Am I blind or what?

KY Cygni

It's freaking big.

Yeah, yeah, I was supposed to go to Medusa's Rock first, but this looked more logical routing-wise. I'll be hopping around Crescent Sector tomorrow.

Benefits of detours

I've missed one neutron star on my route - I try to incorporate them all in my routes, as scanning them is just easy money. Today I realized I had missed one. I clenched my teeth and plotted a course, technically backtracking 250+ ly. For my troubles I found EL along the way (+ terraformable moon).

Yesterday I found a discovered system with WW - but only this planet was scanned. There were two HMCs in between the star and WW - both terraformable. Lucky me :D

Crawling towards Crescent Nebula. Change of plans again - after Crescent I'll go KY Cygni -- V404 Cygni -- V1357 Cygni -- Buboes Star. Then we'll see what date it is. I fear I will need to rush to the bubble.
