Waypoint #20 Beagle Point

After months of travel I have reached to other side of the galaxy. I can honestly say that up until a few weeks I never really believed that I would actually make it here.

Beagle Point marks the end point of a galaxy-spanning expedition undertaken by Commander Kamzel in 3301. At the time, the system was known as Ceeckia ZQ-L c24-0, but Kamzel nicknamed it Beagle Point after his beloved beagle Jack, who had passed away a short time before. One year later, the system was chosen as the final destination of the first Distant Worlds expedition, resulting in an influx of over 500 pilots in April 3302. In recognition of these events, Universal Cartographics officially renamed the system Beagle Point on the 26th of May 3302.

Waypoint #19 Pyrie Eurk QX-U e2-0 (Distant View in Blue)

This planetary nebula offers a stunning and unique view of the galaxy as seen from the void between the Sagittarius-Carina and Scutum-Centaurus arms.

On to Beagle Point!

Waypoint #18 Nyauthai AA-A h0 (Nyauthai Beacon)

One of the brightest lights in the region, located just outside the Nyauthai Ripple. The system consists of two blue-white supergiants located almost 400k light-seconds apart. The secondary supergiant is itself orbited by a main-sequence O-class and B-class star. This system has a total of 161 solar masses and a composite luminosity equivalent of 26 million solar luminosity.

Note: The second blue-white supergiant is incorrectly defined as a regular main-sequence star, despite a size of more than 400 solar radii.

This waypoint took me into the Formorian Frontier region. That means I have now been to 15 of the 44 regions from the Codex.

Waypoint #17 Thueche LS-A d1-54 (Thueche Brahe Nebula)

Making solid progress towards Beagle Point. Only 2 more WPs before I make that heading. But the Thueche Brahe Nebula is an absolutely beautiful Red/Green nebula that was named in remembrance of the Danish 16th century astronomer Tycho Brahe. He was a major source for the data Kepler used for his revolutionary laws of planetary motion. Stunning sights. But the journey beckons.

Waypoint #16 Eactaisky IR-N e6-2 (Eactaisky Stellar Remnant)

A neutron star, its A class companion and the gas giant with water based life, surrounded by blue nebula. Quite a sight here on the brink of the otherwise remote and desolate region known as The Conduit.

Waypoint #15 Flyoo Groa SO-Z e0 (Alastor)

Having returned from my vacation, I picked up right where I left off.
Alastor is a small blue and pink planetary nebula deep within the reaches of the Abyssal Plain. Named in honor of Percy Bysshe Shelley's poem Alastor, or the Spirit of Solitude. This nebula is a welcome scene of color in the bleakness of the western parts of the Scutum-Centaurus arm. Within the nebula is a neutron star, the stellar remnant of a supernova 230 million years ago.

Waypoint #14 Footie AA-A g0 (Blue In The Black)

I have a arrived!!! "Blue in the Black" With three binary pairs, O, B and AeBe this, by some margin, is one of the brightest system so far discovered within the Abyssal Plain, beyond the current limits of the delineated sectors. It is not really obvious on the galmap, but explorers have reported that it is a really prominent point of light in the skybox outside your cockpit window.

Now it is time for a little break.

Waypoint #13 (Eos Brai KR-W e1-4 Osprey Stellar Remnant)

This system is in the very center of a small nebula or stellar plume, formed from the stellar ejecta blasted out by a dying star which collapsed upon itself to form the neutron star at this remnants core. The name is derived from the systems galactic catalog name, Eos Brai (ee - os, bray).

Waypoint #12 (Gyrafaae UJ-R d4-0)

I underestimated the difficulty of this area. Aquilla's Halo and The Void are not regions for the faint of heart. Hopefully the next time I come this way I will be better prepared. After being unable to manually chart a route for Erickson's Star I must turn back to my primary goal on this mission... After successfully reaching The Void Region it is time to continue on to the next waypoint.

Waypoint #11 (Xothae QD-Z c27-0)

I have made into Aquila's Halo Region. Albeit not very far. It was short leg but difficult do to the sparse amount of stars even with 60+LY jump range.
