Sagittarius A*

Here we are, the exact center of our galaxy. As we hover near the supermassive black hole, the entire galaxy is orbiting around us. From Amundsen's Star to Beagle Point, all stars in our galaxy are bound to the unimaginable attraction generated by the sheer mass of this astronomical body.

It is my second visit to the Center. But the sense of wonder has not diminished: Sag A* still messes with my brain. The huge gravitational lensing effect, the density of stars in all directions, the constantly changing color and shape of the event horizon... my mind can't help but associate this with the heart of a living organism.

My first time here was during the Distant Worlds 2 expedition. I was flying my trusty ASP Explorer, the Horizon, and it was my first trip outside of the Bubble. I am now back, two years later, with much more experience and the best exploration ship that money can buy. A carefuly customized Anaconda: 150 meters of the finest engineering that humanity has to offer, complete with all the comforts of home. Yet, once here, the size of the ship does not really matter. I still feel link an ant. But I am very glad that I came here with a friend.

It took us about 40 days to fly here from the Bubble, with a small halt in Colonia. Not a bad pace I must say. I traveled the Neutron Highway as much as I could. Thanks to this new navigation system and the increased jump range of my 'conda, it is much more efficient than I remembered from my trip back from Beagle Point. When you jump more than 260ly at a time in a straight line and do not have to make detours for refuelling, you really feel like the king of the galaxy. Until you jump into a close binary system or a millisecond pulsar, of course... the Black really has its own way to remind you of your humble place in this world.

My friend had prepared an awesome flight plan, full of interesting points of interest along the way. We've seen things you wouldn't believe. All those moments will not be lost in time, because we brought camera drones !
