Back in Black

It's been a loooong time my old friend. After the end of the Distant Worlds 2 Expedition, I was hit with a lack of purpose and direction. I needed a break. It's been over 6 months since I have sat in my captains chair, but it welcomed me back with open arms.

Pitch... check Yaw... check Roll... check Throttle... check

After dusting the cob webs off the FSD, I decided it was time to plot a journey back home. Nebula Runner, my beloved ASP Explorer could not agree more and was ready to go at first command.

I am about to leave The Abyss into Aechron and then I will dip down into The Veils. From there I guess it just depends on whether or not the space madness sets in or the exploring bug hit me.

Within my first hour of the trip home, the space gods decided to keep me on my toes. Well played galaxy, but not this time... and for that I was awarded with another ELW discovery. One little blue and green planet out in the black made the night completely worth it.

I have also heard from CMDR Wolfheart that he is also making the trek back home and is only 1 or 2k LY behind me. Good luck and fly safe CMDR, and I look forward to more discoveries and conversations with you. o7

Fuel Rats and the Community

News has reached us that there is currently an amazing rescue endeavor taking place at the furthermost reaches of our galaxy.

In the process of trying to break the record for the longest distance any human has ever traveled from Sol, CMDR Deluvian Reyes Cruz made a fuel miscalculation and stranded himself. Somehow his call for help made it back to the Fuel Rats and they decided to set out to rescue him. Now, CMDR HighwayWarrior is within a couple days of making this rescue.

The sheer amount of work that has gone into this project is astounding. The fact that humanity would work together to save one single pilot who misjudged things and spend the amount of time and resources they have, just for the glory blows me away.

o7 commanders and god speed. May your journeys home be safe.

Distant Worlds 2

While in Colonia, CMDR Wolfheart and myself heard from a couple explorers passing through the system that there was a new great expedition being started based on the Distant Worlds expedition of 3302. This mission was to travel to the galactic core to set up a research station and then travel out to Beagle Point and then back to the bubble.

Wolf and I were not sure we wanted to make the 4 month journey to the edge of the universe, but as the days went on, the scale of this expedition seemed off the charts. Not wanting to be left off the list of the galaxies greatest explorers we decided to recruit ourselves.

We were going to wait until the expedition made its way out toward us and then meet up with them for the rest of the journey. As of way point 4 we have officially been making our way along with the rest of the 13,000 explorers. I never thought I would feel so part of something this far into the black.

The Great Opal-Rush of 3304-3305

After arriving in Colonia and exploring the local area, the great Void Opal rush that had been going crazy in the bubble had finally reached its way out to us. We both made deals with the locals and purchased some new mining ships and equipment. CMDR Wolfheart outfit an Asp while I rigged up a Python and off we went for some deep core mining.

I had found a system within 3 jumps of Colonia that has FOUR void opal hotspots around one icy ringed planet. We mined for days before the market became so saturated that the price of void opals was brought down by more than half of what they currently were. All in all I made about 800m credits and Wolf made somewhere over a billion.

These funds will further our combat endeavors once we return to the bubble.

Some Interesting Sights

Here are some of the sights I've seen over the last half dozen months.

Lost Track of Time... Or Something

I failed terribly at keeping up on my logbook throughout my journey to Sag A*, and then to Colonia.

Time for a little catch up. The next hand full of entries will be some of the sights and experiences from CMDR Wolfheart and my journey.

The Gift

June 6th, 3304

This is by far the furthest away from Sol than I have ever been in my life. Last night my captains log showed that I am 12,225.15 light years from Sol. That is just over half way to Sag A*. After leaving Amundsen Terminal in Lagoon Sector NI-S b4-10, we traveled to the last station we would visit before our stop over in Colonia after our stop at the center of the galaxy. It was an asteroid station in Lagoon Sector FW-W d1-122 called Attenborough's Watch. After refueling and repairing any hull integrity damage, we set out for the lonely remainder of the journey.

Our next stop was Cl Pismis 3. A popular tourist stop on this trip, this system is home to not one, but three black holes. Unfortunately the gravitational distortion from them caused my imaging systems to corrupt any photos I had taken. The only thing that survived is this footage from CMDR Wolfheart of me landing on Cl Pismis 3 CD 5.

From there we set our waypoint a couple thousand light years out to system Blae Hypue VN-S d4-21 also known as "The Gift". This system was given that name because of the amount of land-able planets and moons just oozing material elements. Most of all, this system has all the components needed to boost your Frame Shift Drive with a level 3 booster. Carbon, Germanium, Arsenic, Niobium, Yttrium, and Polonium. These elements together are also known as Jumponium. The moon Blae Hypue VN-S d4-21 A 2 has a small amount of Polonium, which is extremely hard to find. I'm sure we will spend may hours here farming for some. Here is a screen grab from my ships computer showing how crazy this system is.

I'm not entirely sure where our next stop will be, but I know it will be interesting. Nearly every system I travel through out here has never been seen by human eyes. The next great discovery could be by us.

Until next time CMDR's... o7

This Is Why We Explore

June 1st, 3304

I'm astounded how beautiful the center of the galaxy looks once you get a couple thousand light years away from the chaos of the bubble. You can lose yourself in thought scanning systems, hoping to find the next life form or habitable world. Thank the stars for Sidewinder Radio, Lave Radio and the company of my best friend, CMDR Wolfheart as they keep me company on this journey.

--TRAVEL WARNING-- SMOJUE NF-A D4

I just came out of hyperspace and quickly had to evade a second star orbiting extremely close to the main star in system SMOJUE NF-A D4. If traveling through this sector, please be careful CMDR's.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

May 30th, 3304

Today marks the day that CMDR Wolfheart and myself decided to embark on an exploration expedition and sight seeing tour to the center of the galaxy, and then off to Colonia. We both spent the last weekend working on our ships and engineering our FSD and stripping mass where not needed. I managed to get the Nebula Runner, my amazing little Lakon Asp Explorer that I have had for almost two years now up to a jump range of 53 light years. That is amazing considering I use to explore with it at 36ly max range. CMDR Wolfheart is flying The Black Flag, his Jumpaconda, which is pushing over 60ly per jump. Amazing what Farseerer's improvements can do.

Our first stop was to meet up outside the bubble at BLU THUA AI-A C14-10. A system about 2000ly from Sol, which has a small colony on A 4 A, the only moon circling the 4th planet. There we discussed where to go and what to see. Our next stop will be in the Lagoon Nebula at Herschel 36, and then a few stars over to Lagoon Sector FW-W D1-122, which from what we have been told has a small asteroid base. I will report back on it once we reach there.

Until next log... CMDR Morbidsoul Nebula Runner MO-22A
