On the evening of 4th August 3303 Commander Rescindent left Federation space en route to the Eskimo Nebula. The goal of this expedition is to perform reconnaissance of various undiscovered star systems. Rescindent chose to take a brand new Diamondback Explorer with a specially modified Frame Shift Drive. Given recent hostilities and mysteries, low signature materials were also fitted.

Shortly before undocking the vessel was named 'Sophie's Spirit', in memory of a recent loss in Commander Rescindent's family.

On 5th February 3303 at 9:54PM the Viper Mk. IV 'Expedition 2' completed her maiden voyage by landing at Jacques Station. This marked the end of a 22,000 light year journey that began on 20th January 3302 9:48:15 PM.

The journey followed the spiral from Sol 5,000 light years before diverting towards Colonial. Along the way a water world and numerous rocky worlds were discovered.

In commemoration of safe arrival at Colonia the ship was named 'Midnight Inspiration'.
