Bought a new ship!

After finishing my circumnavigation of the galaxy and returning “Pulsar Skate” to the bubble, I've found things have changed quite a bit. I sold my mapping data for 2 billion total and made a few more billions doing surface mining of low temperature diamonds with “Crucible” since but quickly learned how the markets seem to be kind of allergic to huge loads of mined material now.

I sold the first two cargo holds full of 512 tonnes of LTDs at a very good price. Including the overhead in the refinery... the third time I went out and returned with a full hold, selling these diamonds got real tricky. I visited well over 15 ports before I found one actually giving a “decent” price and they still sold for only about two third of what I got before.

So. Time to change business. I took “Outrider” out of mothballs and went to Robigo to ferry some tourists around. Well, that didn't turn out to pay all that well either. It was a lot of fun to fly the old Beluga again and having passengers to care about is a nice change of pace but it is basically a waste of time.

While stretching my space legs aboard “Hauser's Reach” I learned from one of the barkeeps that the current trend is medium sized passenger ships doing the same old route but starting from “Robigo Mines” outpost rather than the big Orbis station in the system.

Okay. I haven't bought a new ship for quite a while and I don't own a medium sized passenger vessel. So. I bought a new Python and did the engineering rounds for it. It was fun throwing the money around during outfitting. The face of the young engineer I told to install a 5D rated power distributor on a vessel with 6A rated drive was especially worth it. “She'll never boost!” he shouted. Well, she boosts. After I spent a couple overnights within the Dwellers garage.

I named her “Interlink” just as I bought her because I have little imagination and didn't expect to actually keep her around. Well, turns out this little ship maneuvers and speeds almost like my other Pythons while running extremely cold. Her heat signature is virtually stuck at 30%. Yeah, she doesn't have any teeth and her inside is full of room for grouchy passengers... but she is fun to fly.

And as I turns out, doing the Robigo-Sothis run in a medium vessel like her is still tremendously profitable. I am only sorry I gave her such a terrible name...
