No internet in space!

NOMAD II [DA-12A]

CURRENT TASK: COMMUNITY GOAL [Maintain security in Gliese 868].

LOCATION: BOEPH XE-H D10-91 [INNER SCUTUM-CENTAURUS ARM]

I was making decent progress heading from Colonia to Gliese 868 usung the Neutron Highway. Taking part in a community goal, I was expecting to get in with at least 17 hours to spare. But it looks like I won't make it after all. I can barely get through a single jump now. The internet connection is very bad in this part of space...
:D

Escape pod.

NOMAD II [DA-12A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: EOCH PRUAE WA-E D12-4194

SUB-TARGET: EOCH PRUAE VA-E D12-722 A 1 [ODINS HOLD]

I was on the planet surface of EOCH PRUAE VA-E D12-722 A 1 gathering Vanadium when I stumbled across some cargo canisters. I was surprised to see an occupied escape pod among them. I’m not going to risk carrying that cargo to the galactic core. I need the ship to be as light as possible. I’ll return to Colonia to drop them off while it’s still relatively close.

Odins Hold

NOMAD II [DA-12A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: EOCH PRUAE FI-J D9-2392

[ODINS HOLD]

I recently crossed over to Odins Hold hold from the Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm on a trip to the galactic core. A lot of systems I came across on that boundary were single star systems with nothing else to see. I was starting to think the proximity of systems would mean less planets, but after a day of jumping, I see it's the exact opposite. I'm seeing systems with 30-40-50 bodies in the orbital plane. The configurations of the systems are starting to get more varied too. I've come across several systems, back to back, with up to 5 terraformable worlds and at least 2 water worlds.

Lagrange Cloud Mysteries.

NOMAD II [DA-12A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: EOL PROU EA-F C12-302

[INNER SCUTUM-CENTAURUS ARM]

I spent some time around Colonia confirming some reported codex discoveries, however one stellar phenomenon (a blue cloud) in the Colonia system remains hidden. I’ve searched and scanned all three in that system, but nothing new could be found. Green and red coulds, but no blue.

I'm going to make a trip to the galactic core before heading back to the bubble.

[SIDE NOTE: ANOMALY.]

While scanning EOL PROU PX-T D3-1009, I came across a Notable stellar phenomena. It was constantly moving, I couldn’t catch up with it to confirm what it was. I even tried to get ahead and intercept, but it stayed at a constant distance.

Off to the core

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: EOL PROU TS-T D3-4 10 [INNER SCUTUM-CENTAURUS ARM]

I turned in the mapping data I gathered between the bubble and Colonia. The payout was enough to buy a new ship. I needed an extra slot to add an auto repair module. I decided to go with an Anaconda. I was worried the size would make exploration difficult but after a test run, it actually handles quite smoothly. Landing planet-side in particular feels far better than the Asp. The Anaconda runs hotter than the Asp so fuel scooping has to be done at an increased distance and takes longer, but that's a small price to pay.

Seeing as all the original NOMAD [OU-13A] hard points and modules were transferred to the new ship, it only seemed right to call it NOMAD II.

The insurance is through the roof, so I’ve kept the Asp in lockup just in case.

Rush to Colonia.

NOMAD [OU-13A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: BOEPH LQ-D B1-15 [INNER SCUTUM-CENTAURUS ARM]

SUB TARGET: BOEPH LQ-D B1-15 2 B.

My ship has taken a beating since entering the Inner Scutum-Centaurus Arm. After a few rough landings and several unexpected FSD drop outs and subsequent heat damage, I’m deciding focus on getting to Colonia for repairs.

I’ll still explore and map select targets, but cut back significantly. My main priority for now is getting the ship serviced as soon as possible.

Damage

Close call in SRV.

NOMAD [OU-13A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: SKAUDAI UP-V B20-4. [INNER SCUTUM-CENTAURUS ARM]

SUB TARGET: SKAUDAI UP-V B20-4 3 B.

After landing on SKAUDAI UP-V B20-4 3 B to look for more Germanium and Arsenic for the trip ahead, the SRV got stuck in a canyon. I pinged the engines on full, with 2 pings to shields, and tried to jimmy my way out with the thrusters. It wasn't working. I kept landing in another dip with no room to maneuver.

I was seconds away from hitting the self destruct, but stopped myself. There was no way I was losing the SRV this far out. In a last ditch effort, I pulse timed the thrusters to get as high as possible. The SRV spun in the air so fast that I had no idea where I would land or which way was up. Eventually the thrusters gave out and I fell, disoriented. With the SRV badly damaged, I thought the impact would kill me. Luckily I landed upright near the top of the canyon and was able to drive out from there.

From now on I'll be more cautious when digging too deep. Lesson learned.

Striking Topography.

NOMAD [OU-13A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: NYEAJOA HB-E C28-14 [INNER ORION SPUR]

SUB TARGET: NYEAJOA QA-C d14-148

I landed on NYEAJOA QA-C d14-148 to gather Germanium for the long trip ahead. The topography of this planet was striking. After seeing flat, featureless planets almost exclusively, this one is different, in that it is almost familiar. The hills and valleys here remind me a lot of home, although the gravity is far lower.

Two terraform candidates.

NOMAD [OU-13A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: NYEAJAAE KH-M C10-76 [INNER ORION SPUR]

SUB TARGETS: Nyeajaae KH-M c10-76 C 1, Nyeajaae KH-M c10-76 C 2.

I came across two terraform candidates in the same system. Metal content sits at 33.3% and 32.5%, respectively.

A change of scenery.

NOMAD [OU-13A]

CURRENT TASK: EXPLORATION & MAPPING.

LOCATION: THAILOI PT-Q E5-15 [INNER ORION SPUR].

SUB-TARGET: Thailoi PT-Q e5-15 C 2.

After sidestepping from my route in order to scoop fuel, I came across the THAILOI PT-Q E5-15 system. I'm glad I did. After weeks of nothing but dead or frozen systems, this system showed me some new features. The planet Thailoi PT-Q e5-15 C 2 had many features that were a first for me. The inner ring had a Monazite hotspot. A surface scan of the planet revealed at least 2 biological and 27 geological signatures. My first biological encounter was giant gourd-like seed pods. The gravity on this planet is strong. Explorers should be careful when landing.
