DW2: First Earth Like World

Location: Flyiedgou MJ-X d2-90 A6

There are going to be lots of firsts on this expedition. Today, was my first discovery of a planet much like our own. This was a first I've been hunting for quite some time. After slowly making my way back to the fleet after a successful rescue with the Hull Seals, I jumped to an F class star system to top off the tanks. While waiting on the scoop to do its thing, I charged up the discovery scanner to see what's out there. 33 bodies bounced back, seemed high for this class of star. Turns out it was a binary system with a little bit of everything. Checking the signal spectrum on the FSS, nothing jumped out immediately, just your average collection of gas giants, moons, and metal. That is until I noticed one signal in what I thought was the Ammonia range. Turns out it was the diamond I'd been looking for. My first Earth-Like World. After a quick mapping and a few snapshots for the scrapbook, the race was on to get to the nearest Universal Cartographics office, a mere 1800 Light Years away. Had to get my name on this one. I'm sure there will be others as the expedition grinds on, but there's never one quite like your first.

DW2: First Rescue for the Hull Seals

Location: orbiting Planet 3A of the Eidaills YS-G B41-3 system

Just bid farewell to CMDR Figoverlord after my first successful rescue mission for the Hull Seals. Figoverlord found himself in a bit of trouble after his Anaconda tried to mate with a lava spout on recall. Figoverlord was deep in unexplored space, but commanders Starry, Noodle-Impasta, and I were willing to make the 6000LY trek to lend him a hand. Making 114 jumps in just under two hours, I was the second seal to make contact, just behind Starry with Noodle-Impasta close on my heals. A few repair limpets later, and Figoverlord's conda was good as new. Not one for idealness, Figoverlord gave his thanks and quickly jumped out to further explore the region. All in all, a job well done!

DW2: Roll up your selves

Location: Omega Mining Operation, Omega Sector VE-Q b5-15

Time to roll up your sleeves, slap on a couple of mining lasers, and get to work. If this expedition is to have a lasting effect, we'll need to work together to leave our mark. To that end, it's time to collect materials for a new starbase further out than any before, the literal center of the galaxy. I've yet to visit Sag A but it's comforting to know that the materials I'm harvesting here now will give me a place to dock, rest, and repair when I get there. I can only imagine the difficulty those early explorers faced heading so far from home without the comfort of knowing that there's a safe haven at the center of the galaxy.

DW2: The View

Location: HR 6164

1400 light-years out from Sol and from here on out, each jump takes me further from home than I've ever been before. As I pull up to the tourist station, I can tell you that the name certainly doesn't disappoint. Something you just have to see for yourself.

DW2: Setting out on my first expedition

Location: One or two systems away from Pallaeni

Welp, there was a bit more traffic on launch day than I think the organizers expected. With so many ships in the area, the navigation systems seem unable to cope and in an abundance of caution, we're holding until things calm down. Wouldn't want to plot a course straight through another explorer's ship. No worries, time to pop down to the mess, have a pint, and wait for this spot of trouble to blow over.
