Another short jaunt

I enjoyed yesterday's short little jaunt a great deal, so I decided to have another go at one today in a different direction. None of the jumps today were made using economical routing. I just wanted to cover a lot of distance and see what I could find. What I found was a bunch of exobiology, twenty-six in total. It would have been thirty, but I really got skunked on one world. I would actually like to go back and try again it aggravated me so much.. I may just do that tomorrow.

I did make some bank today however, I'm happy about that. Keeping this carrier afloat is going to be relatively easy at this rate as long as the exobio doesn't dry up, and I doubt that will ever happen. I am really enjoying exploration combined with exobiology. This is such a winning combination. I just wish I could share this experience with some CMDR friends aboard this vessel, but all my CMDR friends have their own carriers. Such is life.

I have also re-sparked my interest in mining again now that the carrier requires tritium to move. I almost wish it used more so I could mine more often but that is perfectly ok with me. The T-11 is a fantastic ship and is well suited to its mining task for the carrier. Hell, even if I were simply mining precious metals I could make a fortune with it. What an investment that ship is. More things to think about. Time to end this log entry.

A short jaunt

I had a short little jaunt today in the Mandalay. I made three and a half long jumps to a white dwarf system to check it out. I was wondering if I should move the carrier to this system for a few days but I decided against it. It just wasn't interesting enough for me. Up to this point I hadn't encountered any exobiology either so it's just been fly time. From this white dwarf I saw on the nav chart that there was a black hole near by so I made way to that. It turns out that it has previously been discovered by what I can only assume to be a 'black hole hunter'.

From the black hole I turned to head back to the carrier only three jumps away. When I reached the carrier I stayed in the Mandalay and punched up Universal Cartographics and proceeded to sell the data. To my surprise, the data fetched nearly twelve million with added bonuses. I'll never quite understand just what they're looking for but sometimes they sure pay the big bucks. I should take short jaunts more often!

I guess it's time to start thinking about moving this carrier to a new location. I'm torn about the direction though. Should I start moving toward the bubble or the center of the galaxy or, Beagle point? I need to weigh my options but before I do, I'll definetly want to do at least one more short jaunt around here.

A long day

I had a long day of jumping today. I had this bright idea of traveling to HIP 87621 to see what all the hype is over this new organism I've been reading about and watching on the vidlog.. This whole Teri Tora thing. Then I got to thinking after about two thousand lightyears into the trip, all those people are getting covered with unknown alien spoors and tracking it all over everywhere and everything. Soon, that stuff will be growing everywhere. I don't want any part of this crap. I just don't have a good feeling about this whole thing.

Needless to say, I turned the ship around and headed back to the carrier. But it wasn't a wasted trip. I made well over eleven million in Universal Cartographics data and tomorrow I will visit Vista Genomics to hand in the exobiology data. There were a significant number of planetary visits with exobio scan, so I am looking forward to the visit to Vista. Even though I didn't quite make it to HIP 87621, (ha-ha), I am quite happy with the rewards of this little trip.

Now it's time to get the paperwork out of the way and get my desk back in order. After that, I think I'll head over to the pilot's lounge and get a drink.

What a bust

The system I spent the night in last night turned out to be a complete bust as far as seeking exobiology goes. First of all, it was extremely repetitive across the entire system, everything was the same. But the worst part was I could not find the Tussock anywhere on half of the planets, and I spent several hours looking. All I could find everywhere I turned was Frutexa. Needless to say, the most enjoyment I found in today was breakfast and that's about it. On the upside though, I still did find several exobiologicals and got many samples so, it wasn't a complete waste, I mean, credits were made and I moved on. Just a few jumps left to go.

I had only two or three jumps left on my route before I realized I needed to either call the carrier forward or I need to long jump back to her. After I reached the end of my route at a white dwarf, I considered parking the carrier in the white dwarf system, but I decided to hop over to a main sequence K class star a few light years away instead and find a nice planet or moon to place the carrier for a day or two before moving her again. I found a planet six light seconds away from the star and called in for the jump then waited for the carrier to arrive. Once she arrived, I docked and sold off my cartographic data and then disembarked and headed into Vista Genomics to sell off the exo data and then get cleaned up and eat.

After dinner, I went to my office on the command deck where there were reports spread out on my desk needing approvals and signatures plus a few duty rosters that needed looking over.. Those damn reports and rosters are just going to have to sit there a while longer, I can't wait to hit that comfortable bed once again. I'm tired and that 'management work' isn't going anywhere..

A lot of exobio

I am still scouting ahead of the carrier in economical jump mode and wow, I am encountering a lot of exobiology along the way so far. I really haven't made much progress as far as distance goes but I am sure racking up the exobio from first discovery/footfall worlds. I'm certainly NOT complaining about that!. I'm looking forward to my visit back to the carrier when I can turn in all this data to Vista Genomics and see just how many credits I actually made. Like yesterday, I have made only nine jumps today using economical jumps but have found 14 exobiologicals today.

I am currently camped out on Dryooe Prou ZN-T D3-1738 planet 4 D. This world has 5 exobiologicals on it which I located and scanned before I called it a day. Tomorrow I will visit the remaining five planets that have exobiology on them before I leave this system and continue exploring on ahead of the carrier. Hopefully more exobio awaits ahead to be found and cataloged, in fact I'm sure of it. There is a little part of me tugging away, trying to convince me to make that long and arduous trip back to the bubble to visit the newly permit unlocked HIP 87621 to sample and catalogue the newly discovered exobiology on one of the four planets in the system but that would be very time consuming.. The only redeeming factor that trip would have would be is all the new universal Cartographic data and Vista Genomic data I could potentially pick up along the way and back. I still have just less than two weeks to think it over. I could potentially be there in a day or two.

So, tomorrow I'm going to have my entire morning full with this system and its exobiology to sample so I need to get a good night of rest tonight. A simple dinner is in order after getting cleaned up. Time to end this log entry here.

Camping out again

It got just too late to return to the carrier and so I decided to just camp out again for the night tonight. This system had three worlds each with three exobiological signatures on each so, I made it my mission to find them all today. And find them I did. On each of the three planets, remarkably enough, were the identical same three species of exobiology too, only the colors were different, more than likely due to the different atmospheres, pressures and temperatures. The odds of that happening seem to be rather high when you think about it but when you take into consideration the fact that it occurred within the same system, the odds probably even out quite a bit. I just don't know but it's very interesting.

I'll try to get an early start tomorrow and get a move on. My plan is still to use economical jumps to maximize my chances at finding exobio. It seems to be working quite well so far, I just don't want to get burnt out on the constant brain rattling of the SRV whilst looking for elusive species in rocky mountainous terrain. It does get old after a while. You just can't beat the cash flow though, at least that's what I keep telling myself. Okay, time to end this log entry, get cleaned up, some food in me and relax a bit.

Moving the carrier

Today I moved the carrier 427 light years from one white dwarf system to another white dwarf system. The last system had a nearby planet to park next to which offered a beautiful view of the A star's majestic wings but not this time. The view is still pretty amazing, however. From here, I will once again scout ahead in search of interesting worlds, systems and stars. I am so fortunate I am able to do this, not only for a living, but simply for fun and pleasure, if I choose to do so.

A quick search of this system revealed one planet with a large icy ring but, further investigation revealed absolutely no hotspots of any kind whatsoever. I'm curious as to just what the ring contains in general. I may just fly out here in the T-11 and mine for an hour or so and see what the Icy asteroids contain before I move out ahead of the carrier once again to scout out a new interesting location to move the carrier once again.

I do believe I've settled on a plan then. That sounds like a good plan after a hearty breakfast. I'll mine the ring for an hour or so, come back for the Mandalay and scout ahead and then move the carrier if there is time. Hopefully find some interesting exobiology along the way. We'll see how this plan actually goes.

Back at the carrier

I finally made it back to the carrier today after a long day of jumping with a moderate amount of exobiology thrown in for good measure. I was still using the economical jump routing today which provided me with a wealth of exobiology to scan. I am sure glad I did too as I am well on my way to recovering the cost of the carrier now as I thought I would be. The first thing I did when I got back on board the Silbergeschoss was turn in my Universal Cartographics data and then I headed over to Vista Genomics to hand in my exobiology data but, I was so tired and hungry, I decided to do that tomorrow.

I made my way to my room and got cleaned up and into a fresh set of clothes. After that I went to the bar and got some food and something to drink as I was half starved. The carrier is parked in a white dwarf system orbiting a planet only 24 light seconds away and the views are downright scaringly amazing. The system that I am in is, Eol Prou ND-A D14-692. I probably won't be here much longer but it's a great system to hang out with your carrier for a while anyway and take in the view.

At this point, I'm not sure what direction I want to go. I've made the Tir to the center and back twice now in the Mandalay alone. Now that I have the carrier, I really can go wherever I want without restriction. I may just start to head toward Beagle point in less traveled space and discover what is out there, unseen and untouched by anyone, at least for a while. Perhaps I should wait on that plan for the Caspian. Oh, and the rumor I heard about the exobio discovery, well, I guess there is always my next log entry..

CMDR Bullet out..

Exobiology day

Today I had an extraordinary exobiology day. I made a total of forty-six exobioligical discoveries today in only eight jumps for the day. To say it was extraordinary I believe is an understatement, incredible is more like it. I don't think I've ever found that many exobios in one day. I am on my way back to my carrier using economical jump routing and am encountering an amazing number of extremely rich exobio worlds along the way. I am sure glad I decided to switch to economical jump routing or else I would have missed them all! What would have been only one jump to the carrier has turned into two days now and possibly a third or more depending on if I find even more exobio along the way. Fingers crossed I'll find more.

So, I woke again on an alien world with exobiology to scan first thing. It just kept getting better from there. To say I had a lot of SRV time today would be an understatement. But I really don't mind when I think of all the credits that will bring in being that all of today's discoveries were made on first footfall worlds as well. That will certainly help out with the carrier budget too so, no complaints there either. I also took a chance on a world with two exobio signatures thinking they would be Bacterium and Fonticula but to my surprise it turned out to be bacterium and Stratum Tectonica instead. I may have been able to predict that if I had checked the atmosphere type beforehand but, I rarely do..

Alright, I think I have sixteen or so more jumps before I reach the Silbergeschoss where I will turn in all this accumulated data and then head out again. I will also set a destination for the carrier as well in fact, I may just ride the carrier and then set out for more exploration adventure. I'll talk about the latest I've been hearing about a possible new exobio discovery in my next log entry perhaps.

CMDR Bullet out..

Out of time

And once again I ran out of time during my scouting mission today due to so many exobiology discoveries. It seems as though I'm making up for yesterday's dry spell. Tonight, I even landed on a world that has four exobiology signatures on it that I was too tired to even try and locate one before crashing out for the night. So, I have my work cut out for me tomorrow and this system has three more worlds with exobiology on them so, I have my morning cut out for me. I'll be bringing a fat paycheck back to the carrier tomorrow if I don't get held up with more systems like this one, rich in exobiology.

I made twenty-two jumps today and according to the data, all but one was a first discovery for me. the only system that wasn't a first discovery for me was a lone neutron star. I discovered two other neutron stars though along with three white dwarves, three brown dwarves and thirteen main sequence stars. All very interesting indeed.

The Caspian explorer has been on my mind since I've heard about it and it's reported capabilities. The more I think about what it's being touted as being capable of doing, the more I think I want it but, not for exploration purposes. That ship has, at least for me, a greater value in another area that I may speak of in another log entry later on. One thing is certain, I will own one. And with that, it's time to wrap up this log entry.
