The Militia for Independent Research was formed in 3302, when a group of pilots banded together to defeat the Imperial blockade of a crashed alien ship in the Pleiades. MIR claims to stand for unity, science and peace. Their stated goal is to liberate all alien-related research sites from the control of superpowers they deem \"corrupt\", allow any civilian scientist to access these sites, and release all findings to the public for free, without any censorship.
