This isn't about a virus of biological nature. After scavaging wrecks in Ross 104, I have stumbled upon an increased number of privately owned citizen ships infected with malware. Upon studying the logs they left on their beacons it appears this malware causes catastrophic system failure damaging the Telemetry history to prevent warning of this malware. The malware must be causing the ship to self-destruct or announce itself to raiders, the latter is unlikely this system is very well secured and lack any violent factions, but telling how the telemetry system was affected can't be crossed out, possibly turning off the reporting system to officials. Analyzing this data tells me the malware can only affect these consumer-grade ships and can't harm ships with secure or military-grade devices which most commanders should be running. This is due to the malware being flagged as a "Flash upgrade for Consumer Firmware". I don't know any more than what I have typed be careful what you download and don't download random updates without docking at a station so you don't just spontaneously destroy your ship.
