Expedition Gagarin — Training Days

Greetings, Commanders! Its second video from #ExpeditionGagarin in #EliteDangerous — I called it so in memory of 60th Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin flight, he was a first human in outer space. In last video — see link on it in cards — I told, that didn’t played ED for almost one year. So I spent four days to train and sharp my skills in space. And also I flew for 400 jumps away from SOL to starting point of my expedition. Let’s start and see some.

About my Anaconda

Well, my favorite ship for explorations is Anaconda — I really love this great and big spacecraft. You can see my profile on EDSM and ship’s fit on Coriolis — links are in description to this video. So, what we have?

I can jump for more than 20 light years, have all scanning equipment for explorations, good fuel tanks 150 tonnes and fuel scoope 5A grade, sure. Shields and hull is also good, I think. Some lasers and cannons, fighter, two point defenses is installed only for defense.

Also I have 2 Field Maintance Units and repair limpet controller for repairing in space, 2 heat sink launchers. Cargo racks is 128 tonnes. I have a planetary vehicle hangar, too, because I plan to visit planets and collect some materials.

Bad thing is that I don’t have enough materials to synthesize ammo for heat sinkers, so I must be very careful while entering the systems.

I think, I don’t need very long jumps, because I plan to explore, not to move very fast. So 20 light years is normal.

Way to Nebula

Well, I plot my way to SOL system first and then to Heart Nebula — its about 400 jumps for my Anaconda. During flight I scanned and landed on some planets.

Once I almost brake my spacecraft — only 56% of hull left. Well, it was a good lesson and practice in repairing and using limpets. I think less armored ship will explode after that boom!

During the flight I discovered more than hundred systems first, some planets were fully scanned.

And now see, how Soul and Heart Nebulas looks from different distances — its beautiful view, isn’t it?

FOAM KGB rule and system scan while fueling from star

In the middle of my way to Farsight Expedition Base in Heart sector, I replotted my route and choose only scoopable stars. See on video, how to make it. And remember that simple phrase FOAM KGB — its made from letters of scoopable stars. You also can see star type in INFO panel — top right corner — when switch on FSD before jump.

When fueling or scooping from star, you can also scan system at that moment. Just remember about heat — it better to wait more than to burn, I think.

Cooling the ship

Well, my way from Inner Orion Spur to Elysian Shore took four days and it was quite secure. I also cooled my ship and disabled some modules, that I don’t need in cruise mode — lasers, cannons, docking computer and so on. You can see, how many power they take in module panel. I have 2 Field Maintance Units, so one of them was switched off.

Heat sinkers make the quicker cooling and are very useful things that can save you, so I installed two such modules.

Also I bought some ARX — its Elite Dangerous virtual currency — and made my ship more cozy, I bought some bobbleheads with planets, decals and paintjobs.

Training is done — I reach my first goal

I reached Farsight Expedition Base, landing was in semiautomatic mode — this base located on asteroid.

There I made some repairs and sold cartographic data — it gave me only 20 mln credits, but it doesn’t matter.

Don't lose yor cartographics data!

The main thing was to store this data. I think you know, that if you scan and explore, and than you killed before selling this data, all progress will lost. Remember that and fly safe!

What’s next?

My next point of interest is Formidine Rift. I think there are many unexplored systems. I will fly in that directions soon, my Conda and me is ready!

Expedition Gagarin — Zero day

Dedicated to 60th Anniversary of first man in outer space

Dedicated to 60th Anniversary of first man in outer space

Greetings Commanders! This is the first (pilot) video about my planned expedition in #EliteDangerous. I named it «Expedition Gagarin» and my long way will be dedicated to #YuriGagarin — first man in outer space. Let’s begin — I will tell you about this brave man, 60th Anniversary of his flight and my goals.

YouTube link

Who is Yuri Gagarin?

Well, some historic facts in the beginning... This smiling and modest man Yuri Gagarin was born in 1934 in the village of Klushino, USSR. Aged 16 Yuri was a local «young worker», he lived near Moscow and later he was selected for further training at the Industrial Technical School where he studied tractors. Also at this time he trained to fly a biplane. In 1955 he was accepted to the First Chkalovsky Higher Air Force Pilots School.

On 1957, Gagarin was commissioned a lieutenant in the Soviet Air Forces, having accumulated 166 hours and 47 minutes of flight time. And two years after he was recommended to the Soviet space programme.

After hard training and selection, Yuri Gagarin was approved as a first man, who will fly on spacecraft Vostok 1 in outer space! On 12 April 1961, at 6:07 am this ship was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Just listen to his word «Poehali» — it means «Go!» or «Lets start!»

In such a way Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit the Earth! He was 108 minutes in space and it was the great breakthrough of all humanity, not only USSR.

So, in this year 2021 on 12 April people of Earth and honorable Commanders will celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin flight.

In the beginning of Expedition Gagarin — like a newbie!

I want to dedicate my planned expedition to this Anniversary, so I called it «Expedition Gagarin». Let me tell you some words about goals and plans.

I didn’t played Elite Dangerous for one year normally. So, you can call me a №newbie — it really is, ’cos I don’t remember the keyboard layout and forget some important things. But it means that I will play the game like in first time, so it will be nice — I like new feelings, yeah :-) I will remove all bookmarks and favorites from my map, too. Also, I don’t remember how to explore and scan planets and fight, but have a good ship for explorations, that I made in last year and traveled on — its Anaconda called «Khan». At that time it made for some mining, and I will refit it.

So I will dock to it and fly first to Sol system — to refresh in my memory and practice in space flying and maneuvering. I have some experience in trading and have some credits — you can see my profile on edsm.net, link will be in description of this video.

Goal of Expedition Gagarin

What is my goal you may ask? Well, I want to travel across the known and mostly unknown systems, find some new planets and scan it. Also I will land on planets and take some resources for ship repairs. I plan sometime visit inhabited worlds to sell cartographic data and make some repairs on ship.

But the main goal is finding a mostly new systems and planets. In previous video — see cards — I told that only 0,04% of Elite galaxy was explored in 2019. Now it can be 1%, but its very small number.

Expedition will be the solo, only with in-game crew and I will post new diaries of Commander Pleh77 regularly with video, screenshots and routes. I plan to explore the Milky Way for many hours a week, for many-many days.

So, lets study Elite Dangerous again! Subscribe my channel, Commanders, and leave comments with your great results! Especially for your convenience I’ve made a playlist called «Expedition Gagarin».
