Captain's log, entry #1.

Today, I set off for Sgr A*. This was my first real exploration trip. Of course, I had explored before. But that was merely picking a random system 5kly out, finding it's not on the Neutron Router, and flying my way there manually to a fairly boring and uninteresting system, devoid of life.

This time, this was a real trip. I packed up my things, got into my shiny new exploration ship, fresh with a Guardian FSD booster (unlike my previous exploration ship), and set off.

The first kly was fairly boring and uninteresting. It usually took about 1kly to get near the highway in the first place. Just stars, dwarves, and the odd neutron. No white dwarves: I wasn't stupid enough to fly a Phantom with 3mil insurance costs into a white dwarf.

Then, I reached the highway. Several neutron stars along the route, each taking me 3x my usual jump range. It should have been 4x my jump range, but neutron stars aren't common enough to make full use of my 50ly jump range. Either that or I fat-fingered 40 into the jump range box. I took several completely boring and uninteresting pictures; this was my first time taking pictures on exploration trips.

The third kly was different. I saw some truly beautiful sights, and even had some pancakes cooked on my sensor readouts after I flew far too close to a star. The pictures are below:
