The brightest illumination is a shaft of light from the shadows -- The Children of Raxxla

Humanity is fragile. With only two loci of settlement, both highly visible, we are vulnerable, if not in this war against this adversary, then later in the unending stream of unknown challenges that the unexplored galaxy has yet to offer. We need multiple homes, hidden like gemstones dropped randomly in an ocean of glass beads. Where better to find our ocean than the core of the galaxy, stellar systems billion upon billion, scarcely breathed upon by all our exploration?

The Children of Raxxla have long pursued the goals of uncovering mysteries, bringing light into dark places, using knowledge and the spirit of truth as shields in the fight for the future of all sentience and of humanity's place within. Though we have operated primarily in the shadows, the time has come once more to coordinate a search for the knowledge that may be the key to our survival, beyond feckless promises of instant salvation that lead only to universal death and destruction.

So we now welcome commanders who are invested in the future of humanity, commanders who feel that participation in yet another xenocidal war is not the answer, commanders who understand that come what may, we need options for retreat and retrenchment, to join us in this search. We will comb the systems near the galactic core for potential future self-sustaining bubbles - compact regions with multiple earth-like and terraformable worlds and abundant resources, not least tritium to fuel the armadas of megaships that may be needed to manage an exodus from the current bubbles and if the worst should happen, further escapes to further homes still undiscovered.

An important notice: this is not a conventional expedition, with a well-defined beginning, ending, and guided tour through a sequence of waypoints. If you want to "complete" an expedition by ticking all the boxes on EDSM, this may not be for you. If you want open-ended discovery and exploration in the company of fellow seekers of knowledge, you have found a compatible community.

Commanders are welcome to drop in and out of the search rather than following a linear progression round a defined itinerary.

Welcome to the quest. The search will be managed entirely through our community on Discord. To participate fully, or to take part in any public or shared events, you will need to join us there: https://tinyurl.com/cotcInvite

Note: most of the "waypoints" are essentially randomly chosen foci of searches. We may modify the list, we do not expect commanders necessarily to visit every waypoint, and the ordering of the search is not determined by the waypoints, but will be discussed in the expedition Discord server. We expect to rendezvous with like-minded members of the Azura Initiative and the Izanami expedition for a little fun during the trip.
