So close

I'm about 60 jumps away from Colonia, and after some more exploration, hope to arrive within a week.

I've had a few technical challenges along the way, having to ultimately upgrade my HUD to an HP Reverb, and also my HOTAS to a T16000M, but I'm slowly getting used to them. Other than that, it's been pretty smooth sailing, with some gentle planetary landings, and only once did I get so close to a star that I dropped out of supercruise. No real damage at least.

The trip has really been something though. I've never felt so alone, but not at all in a bad way. It's just given me perspective. I've been awed with our galaxy. Its size and its beauty. The stars are so dense out here. I've found the perfect soundtrack to my solitude. The score from an ancient movie from well over a thousand years ago called Interstellar. It's been hard not to shed a tear with the beauty my eyes and ears have been gifted.

I'm looking forward to getting to Colonia though. It's been a while since I've had any human interaction as I've never seen a soul since I left the bubble. I think I'll catch up with the engineers I plan to contract, and then put my feet up for a while. Maybe after some rest, I'll give Sagittarius A a visit though. I'm half way there already, right?

The top of the Galaxy!

Jumped in my Anaconda, and decided to head to Colonia for the first time, but instead of a straight path, I decide to go up as far as I could. What an experience. It's black out there, really black, but looking back toward the center of the galaxy where the star density is the greatest is really something. Probably the smallest I've felt in my life. Knowing that Earth was out there some where, but that I couldn't even see my home star if I tried, never mind my home world, was quite a humbling experience. Anyway, I tried going as far as I could, until I ran out of stars to jump to. Started to wonder if I'd even find my way back, or if I'd run out of fuel, but after a few interesting discoveries, I'm back on track and now on my way to Colonia, and about 10k ly from the bubble.
