Andromeda Adieu - Day#1 - First & Last Day

And we're off. Andromeda Adieu has started as we make our way from Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0) back into The Bubble.

Well.... that was the plan. The problem was that after making a bunch of synthesized jumps away from Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0) I realised that my progress hadn't been captured against the first waypoint and there was no way I was going all the way back just to mark it. So I have abandoned the expedition and will make my own way back to Lave and then onto Deciat. I've decided that I am not going to explore this leg home and instead just make my way home via a fairly direct route. I have a couple of target systems I wish to visit en route but apart from that I am not expecting to find much. I am however, very keen to cash in my expo data which should be worth several hundred million credits if I can get back unscathed and once there I will refit my ship and get back out into the Black as soon as I can. As I have mentioned before I've yet to experience Odyssey so I think I will give that a whirl for the first time. See you back at Deciat.....

Passage to Andromeda - Day#71

62 jumps, 42 of them normal, 17 of them 25% Synthesized and 1, 50% Synthesized and I made it to Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0). Taking the time to stock up on Jumponium earlier along this leg was a wise idea as it made the whole thing so much easier.

So I'm here, finally, after a flight of well over 180k LY, a couple of close calls, a lot of fuel scooping and a few planet landings. It's been a long trip to reach this point and I will certainly enjoy a few days of rest before we turn the whole fleet around and start back toward Lave. I had considered hitching a ride on one of the Fleet Carriers that have supported this expedition but I decided a few days ago to join the Andromeda Adieu expedition expedition back to The Bubble. It's a chance to explore some more & pick up lots more discovery data before I get home..... and of course I will be logging the expedition here.

I've found lately that my thoughts have turned to 'home' several times and I am trying to decide what to do once I get back. I've yet to explore the Odyssey side of this whole thing and have decided I will put some time and effort into uncovering that in the short term. Long term.... well, it'll be back to exploration only this time I am going out to explore the southern part of the galaxy and then out to the eastern side which I've not visited at all as of yet.

But for now, I have the parking brake on, the ship is in neutral and the anchor dropped. I'm sticking my feet up for a few days!

Only a couple of weeks ago we were there...

A long way home

Passage to Andromeda - Day#70

There isn't much out here! I am gradually making my way toward Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0) but finding very little of interest along the way. I did however find a brand new Jumponium rich system, Blae Dryue UG-T b37-0.

A very quiet day. Making my way across The Black toward Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0). A photo from the past for today.

Leaving Deciat

Passage to Andromeda - Day#66

Having spent an hour or two flitting between several planets in El Dorado (Upper Angustia Depot) (Blooe Phroo VO-P d6-6) I was able to harvest a significant qualtity or the materials that I needed to get to Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0). The materials were favourably distributed, often together on the same planet meaning that I was hitting 'pay-dirt' with nearly every find on the surface. In the end I didn't need too long before I had more than enough to get me in and out of the Star One system if I followed one of the routes that had been published on EDSM by a previous explorer. I checked, double checked and triple checked the leg distances against the number of FSD Injections I had available to me to ensure I am not going to run out along the way and it turns out I have more than double the amount needed for 25% increases and 50% increases..... without having to even touch any of the 70+ 100% injections I have amassed. Harvesting all that Polonium back on Day #46 of this expedition was really worth the effort as having so many 100% FSD Injections available means that I should be able to travel to any system in the galaxy without too many problems.

So this is it, the last leg. I am now heading for the entry point into the route to Star One and then I plan on following the route carefully until I reach my target system and the finish waypoint of this expedition....... Exciting times ahead.....

Passage to Andromeda - Day#65 :: The hunt for Jumponium

So I'm down to the last leg of this journey and am going to be needing a significant amount of Jumponium, even with my 70LY ranged Anaconda. Some of the legs on the final run into Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0) require jumps over 100Ly. I already have a large amount of materials but I want to make sure I have enough to get me in and out of that final system just in case I decide to make my own way out rather than hitching a ride on a FC back to the bubble.

So before I go any further I am heading to the nearest Jumponium rich system to stock up on materials. I actually only need to stock up on Vanadium, Cadmium & Yttrium depending on which injection I need to do. I don't want to waste materials by over synthesising so having the ability to synthesise all FSD injections is preferable. I'm lucky I have so much time in the bag as I can afford to take my time and ensure a plentiful supply. I really don't want to resort to hitching a ride aboard a FC to cover the last leg to Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0) as I have flown the rest of the expedition, I should be flying the last leg to ensure I reach the target system by myself under my own power.

Passage to Andromeda - Day#63

After a very boring few days crossing the last 13k LY, today I arrived at The Lonely Lantern Nebula (Crooki PX-V c17-5). A rather small but beautiful nebula situated in The Perseus Crags. So that's it, the penultimate waypoint reached and now it's the final leg of the expedition itself out to Star One (Byaa Thoi GC-D d12-0), the closest point in our galaxy to Andromeda, the natural jump off point to reach our enormous galactic neighbour and the final waypoint in this brilliant expedition that I have been participating in for the last 63 days. I'm still at least two weeks ahead of the rest of the field as I write this and will almost certainly find myself kicking my heels once I reach the end, however I will be waiting for the rest of them so we can celebrate the end of expedition together.

I also decided to register for the Andromeda Adieu Expedition which is the 'Part 2' if you like, the return from Star One back to Lave and at only a shade under 50K ly, it's a wee jaunt compared to what we have just done however it promises some interesting sights along the way.
