I continue my service onboard the Canonn Megaship Gnosis and this morning we jumped to the Pleiades Sector PN-T b3-0 System.

It was hard to believe but their on the 6th Planet I could locate and scan a strange organic like structure of alien origin. Later the crew of the Gnosis seemed amused when I reported this and explained that I found a so-called "Barnacle". A kind of Thargoid building which those mysterious aliens are using to collect material from planets. We are now it seems even deeper in their space?

Overall, the crew seems friendly towards me and appreciate all the surveys I did last week. But I cannot shake the feeling that I have to do more for earning their respects. They cautioned me to be very careful out there when doing more surveys for them. The Thargoids are extremely hostile, so they say.

However, I was never one for judging quickly and just feel the urge to understand more of those creatures. Maybe one day even be able to communicate with them. There must be a way to coexist peaceful. Space is so vast, and there should be enough for every one! Humans or otherwise. I recorded some markings with my helmet camera which could indicate a form of symbol or written message even. Time and more analysis is required.

"This is my very first entry. I have to get this written down, at least to write it off my heart.

It is my first week serving on board the Canonn Ship Gnosis and I completed my survey of the HIP 17862 system. I was amazed to find an actual Thargoid ship wreck and delivered one of their sensors successfully back to the Gnosis.

But I think that got not unnoticed. And today I messed up I think and lost my ship the Miehlen in the process. There will never another one like her, my first ASP Explorer, and I will miss her.

There is no use in feeling sorry now. I just wanted to reach out in one of the Pleiades nebula systems Maia. During the jump, the most gleaming green light suddenly surrounded my ship and that was NOT normal hyperspace, as I got used to. Suddenly my ship was pulled back into normal space and there they were. For real, not like in the books or any computer display I ever saw. REAL Thargoid ships flying around me. Two of them. I did not even realize at first that all my ship's systems have been fried and powered down. Will this be my end? How can I say sorry? Sorry that I took your sensor array from the crash site!

No, after a time which seemed longer than it might really was, one of the two ships jumped back into hyperspace. It was just gone. Now, my sensors at least came back online. My heart was racing, but I could not stop just staring out my window - it is so beautiful - eight perfect symmetrical arms, red and green lights dancing over its skin. As I gathered my senses I looked down at my sensor screen, but that can not be! It was like the object before me can not be scanned. I try to remember the numbers the display showed, but the memory is fleeting. Just numbers - What could they mean? I might never know.

One by one the Miehlens systems came back online - Yes, thruster control. But I can not move away from this mesmerizing green disk with eight spikes. It always keeps the same distance - 512 meters - no matter if I go backwards or forwards.

Maybe I could communicate, but how? Maybe the raised shields will be seen as aggressive. I lowered the shields. No change in the Thargoids behaviour. Powering down all weapons and all non-essential systems. No change. Powering down Thruster and even life support. No change!

The Lights! Eureka! I said, and tried using my external front lights to signal the ship in front of me. Will they be able to understand? No change in their path. Just sitting there in 512 meters distance, "staring" at me. Maybe laughing? Do Thargoids laugh, I wondered.

Enough! I powered back my thrusters and life support. Then I did something so stupid, my dad would have slapped me for it. I wanted to get past the ship and fired a thruster burn. This time the Thargoid ship did not keep the same distance and came closer and closer, very fast. BÄM! My ship smashed with almost 400 meters per second, into the perfect even surface of the Thargoid ship. Hull at 79%! The computer shouted at me. This time the Thargoids responded, and not in a friendly way. Green bolts of light flew around me as I tried to boost my way out. I could barely make it to the escape pod and shoot myself back to the Gnosis. On the way there, I saw a bright light as the Reactor of the Miehlen breached. I just hope the Thargoid don’t hold a grudge and that my next encounter can be peaceful again.

The Doctor on the Gnosis said I should take a few days rest. But I just can’t. I won’t! As soon I can get another ship, I will be out there again. Seeking in the stars and the void."
