I am camping again tonight. I am doing a little scouting, and I found a previously undiscovered white dwarf system with a planet orbiting just 23 light seconds away from a white dwarf, so I decided to move the carrier to that planet for some beautiful views of the white dwarf wings and beautiful they are. The system that my carrier is currently in is Eol Prou ND-A d14-692 and the planet it is orbiting at 23 light seconds from the white dwarf is AB 1. I also chose this system because it has a gas giant with an icy ring containing a few tritium hotspots, so I decided to top off the carrier's fuel tank as well with the T-11.
After topping the tritium tank in the carrier, I continued to scout ahead in hopes of finding some first footfall worlds with exobio on them to further fund my ongoing personal mission, explore the black. I stumbled through several main sequence stars with very few hits, if any. Mostly worlds with only one exobio signatures. I have relaxed my limit and decided that I would land for two signatures if they showed up and they did. The last system and this system that I'm camping in tonight, system Dryooe Prou GP-A d796.
I've heard tale of a new exploration ship becoming available very soon, it will be called a Caspian Explorer, and it will be a large ship with quite a jump range I hear. I also hear it can utilize the neutron star supercharges quite effectively in reading. I'm actually not sure what good that would be other than to traverse vast distances extremely quickly but in my mind, you'd be skipping over everything worth looking at. Now if you're in a hurry to get somewhere, I can understand but to call it an explorer is a bit odd, but I guess it works. So, I suppose I'll have to get it when it comes out, you know how it is, I'm a sucker for that sort of stuff.
CMDR Bullet out..
I am, once again, trying to move out ahead of the carrier in search of a nice place to park for a day or two before we move on toward the center of the galaxy. I was hoping to find a little exobiology along the way today after yesterday, but I came up with a big goose egg, sadly. Yesterday, I found two worlds with exobio on them, one with seven and one with four. I found all seven and called it a day. Today I finished up the last four before continuing the rest of the day's journey, but I don't count that as part of today's exobio.. I count that as yesterday's exobio.. The only good thing that came of today was finding a really nice location to park the carrier for a day or two.
The last system I visited today had a beautiful earthlike world in it with just about the exact same mass and gravity as our own good ol' Earth back at Sol. It really was a sight to see. The system is, Eol Prou GJ-E B27-28 and it is planet B 5. If you are ever in the area, go check it out.. All kidding aside.
Anyway, about a half an hour later, the Silbergeschoss was in a parking orbit around the beautiful earthlike world, and I was docked and downloading my Universal Cartographics data and Vista Genomics data. It was good to be back aboard the carrier. After getting cleaned up, I ate a hearty meal and kicked back awhile before taking a load off and passing out in my comfy bed. I'll look over the carrier department reports tomorrow..
CMDR Bullet out..
I am moving out ahead of my carrier, the Silbergeschoss, in hope of finding an interesting system to park in for a few days before continuing on toward wherever it is I decide to go. My destination was a neutron star system only six jumps away in my Mandalay and I thought I'd be there in no time. I didn't count on finding so much exobiology on the way, and on first footfall worlds at that! Needless to say, I didn't make it to my destination. I spent way too much time chasing down exobio, not that I'm complaining.. I just finished up finding an elusive Osseus Pellebantus on world Eol Prou CF-Q D5-306 ABCD 1 G. That was just one of seven for this world. The last world had four exobios for a total of eleven I located so, that pretty shot my day all to hell, not that I'm complaining, like I said..
So, once again, I get to camp out for the night. I rather like that. I think I'm going to do this scout and camp thing a lot more often when moving the carrier. That way I get the best of both worlds, after all I love camping, but I do love the comfort of the carrier too.
Dinner will be something hot and delicious and a couple of imported beers to go with it after I get cleaned up. Then I'll get caught up on some news and then sack out for the evening. that's about it, nothing more to report that I can think of..
CMDR Bullet out..
Along with the T-11 to mine tritium and the Mandalay for serious exploration, I brought along a Cobra MK 3 and a Cobra MK 5 in the carrier and fitted them both out with Guardian FSD boosters and exploration gear and stripped all unnecessary gear to lighten them for maximum jump range. I'd like to have a little variety out in the black using some of my favorite ships. Well, I also brought the first ship I ever owned, her name is Patty the Sidewinder. I tricked her out with a Guardian FSD booster, an FSD (SCO) and totally lightened her up. She'll do 27 light year jumps and if I put the 2G SRV bay in her with an SRV, she'll still do 24 light years. That's just what I did too, I outfitted her with a 2G SRV bay and SRV. I'll admit, she's a bit of a novelty but she does work.. She's just a bit cramped, and a little bitchy when you throw her in SCO, and she gets thirsty too.. But she is fun, I'll give her that.
Today I took her out for half a day. I visited nine main sequence stars before I made way back to the carrier and exchanged ships for the Mandalay. Every system I visited in the Sidey had been previously discovered by someone else. After exchanging ships, I discovered thirteen previously undiscovered systems in the Mandalay and twelve that had been already discovered before me. I also managed to find two worlds with exobiology on them netting me a cool 113 million credits, so that was great all the way around.
All in all, it turned out to be an above average day. We can all use days like these.
CMDR Bullet out..
I was feeling nostalgic today after camping out last night. After I returned from yesterday's little adventure and turned in my data, I had a nice breakfast and relaxed for a bit and caught up on some news. After that I cleaned up and got the Cobra MK 3 ready for a little exploration trip. It's been quite a while since I've sat in this beautiful piece of machinery. With the guns stripped out of her and all the non-combat gear stowed away and a guardian FSD booster installed along with some specialized lightening here and there, she'll do almost 34 light years per jump which isn't too terribly bad. I could probably get a lot more out of her with some engineering but I'm not going to sweat it.
I made twenty-one jumps with her and found ten white dwarves, and eleven main sequence stars. Unfortunately, only one of the white dwarves was previously undiscovered, the other nine had been discovered by CMDRs that came before me. That is completely understandable considering the proximity to Colonia these White dwarves are. I'm actually surprised I found an undiscovered one to be honest! Not one of the eleven main sequence stars was a first discovery by me either, not surprising at all. But I still had fun using the old Cobra and I plan to use her again. You can bet on that.
As far as Exobiology goes, the pickings were pretty slim. I was only able to sample two specimens in the Cobra, a bacterium and a Fonticula. A mere ten million credits to show for the day but it definitely beats a swift kick in the ass..
CMDR Bullet out..
What a wild day I had today. I don't know what got into me but for some reason I decided I wanted to discover as many white dwarves as I had time for. I must be crazy because white dwarves scare me only a little less than black holes do.. But there I was in a small field of them so there I went chasing them down. I found nineteen in all today. I may continue the quest tomorrow, I haven't made up my mind yet but, I'm still in a position to do so as I didn't make it back to my carrier tonight. I decided to camp out on Eol Prou PX-J c9-35 ABCD 2 C for the evening. It had six exobiological signatures that I just finished sampling, and I was pretty beat up from the SRV. I haven't camped out in a while now, so I figured, what the hell..
I made a total of twenty-five jumps today but only 14 of them were first discoveries. I did sample ten exobiologicals as well and fortunately those were all made of first footfall worlds by me. I am very happy about that. All of those samples will bring a five times bonus at Vista Genomics when I get back to my carrier tomorrow. Hopefully I will have more exobio data to go along with what I am bringing back with me today.
Dinner tonight will be light. I'm actually not very hungry. I will probably have a big breakfast in the morning though along with two cups of coffee. Enough about that though. Time to cut this log entry here, until tomorrow..
CMDR Bullet out..
I did a little exobiology in the Mandalay today. I found a total of four exobiologicals across two worlds. The system had an absolute total of seven exobiological signatures but, the rest were only bacterium cultures, and I wasn't interested in collecting them and quite frankly, wasting my time. I didn't travel far from the carrier today, but I was away for a good length of time. I spent a lot of time tracking down one particular species of bacterium on one world called Bacterium Bullaris. It was practically invisible and nearly impossible to locate. I almost let it go but I just couldn't let it get the best of me. In a last-ditch effort to locate this elusive bacterium, I actually left the planet and flew to another area where the ground was a lighter color. Sure enough, the bacterium was now showing up, and I was now able to collect the required three samples with ease.
Pretty much all the star systems have been discovered around Colonia, but I think it's fascinating that many times I find that the system bodies have barely been discovered and are just waiting to be explored for the first time. They are still pristine hunting grounds for exobioligists and geologists alike looking to make a name for themselves. I plan to make another local exobio-hop around Colonia tomorrow like I did today and see if I can find some more gems that have been overlooked, shall we say. Perhaps I'll get lucky and find some more passed up worlds with rich exobiological signatures just waiting to be discovered by yours truly.
Now the question, which ship should I take?
CMDR Bullet out..
I had to make my way back today to visit some rich exobiological systems I passed yesterday. That's just the nature of how this universe works, that is at least how it seems to work with this commander anyway.. It was late in the evening when I discovered these particularly rich exobiological systems, and I did the best that I could to document them. Well, I'm glad that I did because it really paid off. Those two systems yielded six worlds with over thirty exobiological signatures between them. It took the better part of the day to find them all.
Before I made my way back to the exobiology though I did jump over to Colonia to replace my fuel scoop with a larger one. I just couldn't stand how slowly my old fuel scoop was working so I doubled its intake. What a difference that made! I am refueling in half the time and moving on much quicker now. But for me the real shocker was discovering that I could purchase a Guardian FSD booster at colonia. I had no freakin idea I could do that. So not only did I more than double my fuel scooping ability, I added nearly ten light years of jump range to V3NOM! She now jumps over 40 light years at a pop. Needless to say, I'll be adding a Guardian FSD booster to the rest of my fleet shortly.
So, I made only ten jumps on this exobiology trip today, all main sequence stars and all previously discovered except for three. That was an unexpected pleasure to get first discovery on three systems around this area. I think I will bum around this region of space for a few more days before I pull anchor and move on. There is no telling what I might find, if anything..
CMDR Bullet out..
I outfitted my Cobra MK V for exploration today. It didn't do half bad actually. My jump range is just over 30 light years which is good but not great. Thirty-five to forty would be preferable but I'll take what I can get. Perhaps a Guardian FSD booster would be in order here. I like the footprint of this ship too, it is small and can find small, tight spots to land in.. I can even carry TWO SRVs. I like that a lot. She doesn't hang over quite as much as the Mandalay does, but she can't even compete with the Lonestar's range so, the V3NOM will remain simply a 'Jack of all trades', but a damn good one at that.
As far as local exploration goes, I made twenty-seven jumps today rising above the galactic plane over the Colonia region. Of the twenty-seven jumps, thirteen of them were first discoveries by me so I am happy about that. On the way back I located two systems with several exobiological signatures on them, so I am going to return to them tomorrow and sample them all only I'd like a bigger fuel scoop with me. So, I'm going to go shopping for a slightly larger fuel scoop for the V3NOM tomorrow before I go back to sample all that exobiology. Besides, it simply got too late and I got too tired to sample any more exobiology for the day. And also, if I find that it has previously been sampled, I am not going to waste my time with it. Without a first footfall, it isn't worth my time or my crew's time.
Alright, I am tired and hungry, and I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. Time to end this log entry.
CMDR Bullet out..
Today was spent bumming around the Colonia region exploring the area in the Asp Explorer. It felt good to use the old gal once again. I swapped the Guardian FSD booster from the Mandalay into the Geometry Dash which brought her jump range close to 48 light years. I also changed the Asp Explorer's original FSD for an (SCO) FSD. The Asp is sure tough to control and really heats up fast when the SCO is energized. Clearly the Asp is not optimized for that kind of power, but boy does she ever haul ass when the SCO kicks in. It's downright scary!
I am considering doing a speed run back to the bubble and a Guardian site to collect the resources for another Guardian FSD Booster as well as purchase a Panther Clipper now.. The reasons keep growing. Let's face it, I need to keep busy, and I need to have goals. I wouldn't mind visiting Felicity either and having her put the mass manager on the Mandalay's FSD. That will squeeze another light year or two out of her per jump I think, which should bring her jump range up to just about 80 light years even. Not too shabby in my book.
On the subject of finance, between Universal Cartographics and Vista Genomics, I made roughly 130,000,000 credits today. Not great but not bad either. I made thirty-four jumps and visited four black holes, two neutron stars, thirty-four stars in total with twelve of them being first discoveries by me. All the rest were previously discovered. I was able to get first footfall on a few worlds so that was nice, I like getting those in there when I can. Other than that, that about wraps this log entry up.
