CMDR Bullet profile > Logbook
(Caspian Explorer)
My exploration journey has officially ended. I have made my arrival back to the system I originally left from which was the Frey system. I left in my Mandalay, and I have returned in my Mandalay however, I returned with much more than just my Mandalay. I returned after nearly a year in the black with a lot of experience, several rank ups, more credits than I need, several new ships, a carrier and a crew. But I think mostly I have returned with a new outlook on the game, at least for now. I still want to explore, it's my passion, but I want to experience some of the things I missed out on while I was away. I need to engineer a few things, I'd like to visit the Sol system, I'd like to make a few Rares trade runs, and I'd like to make sure things are ready for my next adventure.
Now that I'm back in the bubble, I want to get most of my ships onto my carrier. I might as well, I don't see me decommissioning this carrier any time soon. It's my mobile home if you will. I'll leave one ship here and one ship there but most of them will be with me on my carrier. I just need to decide what systems I want to leave a ship in. Two to three at the most will do, I think. My next log entry should have the details laid out for that.
To officially finish this log entry, I must report that I made seventeen mostly economical jumps over two hundred forty light years to get to Frey from my last reported position. I visited five main sequence star systems and twelve brown dwarf star systems. I forgot there are a lot of brown dwarf systems near Frey. I didn't stop for any exobiological signals I came across as they would not have been 'first footfall' and not worth the time or effort for me or the crew. After I arrived at Garratt Station in the Frey System, I sold my cartographic data and immediately purchased a Panther Clipper because it was available for purchase at the station. Now I need to find where to purchase an 8D MK II Cargo rack for the ship. I have plans for this thing..
That should do it for this log entry. It certainly has been an experience, and the future is looking bright as I sit and contemplate my next moves in this fast-paced galaxy we live in. I hope I can continue to keep up.
CMDR Bullet out..
For all intents and purposes, this remarkable crew, the carrier and I have in fact, reached the bubble. With just over three hundred light years to go to reach my home system of Frey, we all decided to take some time off and relax in the star system Col 359 Sector PJ-Q b6-1. The carrier is in a parking orbit around the planet B 5.
I will make this log entry as short and concise as I can. To arrive here I scouted out ahead of the carrier in the Mandalay and made twelve jumps into twelve main sequence star systems. The carrier made two jumps to reach this star system from its previous location yesterday. I found four exobiologicals in the very system we're in over two planets. There is still one planet with two exobio signatures that I may or may not try to locate. I'll decide tomorrow or the next day.
Other than that information, the next log entry should be from within Frey system space. I am looking forward to making that final log entry of this long and exciting, not to mention capitol creating and asset accumulating adventurous expedition of mine that has taken over a year to accomplish. Until then and my final expedition log entry.
CMDR Bullet out..
At twelve hundred and forty light years from the Sol system, my crew and I could theoretically be home tomorrow. I don't think I want to push things that hard but one never knows now, does one? Personally, I am getting tired of seeing every star system I jump into having been already previously discovered, and using the FSS on a previously discovered system is a waste of time but, I have made first discoveries and first footfalls by doing just that. I guess changing my exploration style now is not a good idea. It won't save that much time in the grand scheme of things. Many commanders before me simply honked the system, discovered the star and moved on.
Today, I made eight jumps into eight main sequence star systems. Nothing unusual there. I traveled four hundred eighty light years in the Mandalay out ahead of the carrier before I settled on a star system and planet to park the carrier at for the night cycle. I chose the system Swoiwns CK-K b40-1 to call the carrier to and the planet A 2 to park her at. There was one exobio signature on the planet, so I hunted it down while I waited for the carrier to arrive. It took about a half an hour to locate three samples of the bacterium as I wasn't in any hurry and was sightseeing the geothermal activity on the planet to pass some time as well. After I got my samples, I left the planet and headed for the carrier for a nice dinner and a few drinks and a warm bed. Tomorrow may be my last day aboard the Silbergeschoss.

The carrier and I are finally under two thousand light years from Sol. We are in fact, according to my Captain's log, seventeen hundred and four light years from sol exactly. Currently the carrier, crew and I are in the star system Bleia Eohn UM-F b1-0 in parking orbit around the ringed icy world 4 of the system. The ring has a massive Tritium hotspot and a low temperature Diamond hotspot in it that I am tempted to mine for the hell of it. I'll see how I feel about it tomorrow morning after a good breakfast in the lounge.
The trip report goes as follows, I made fifteen jumps in the Mandalay, all into main sequence star systems. Many of the star systems have been previously discovered as is expected but I am still making new discoveries this close to the bubble amazingly enough. The carrier made two jumps today and we covered nine hundred twenty-two light years distance since yesterday. The carrier has plenty of Tritium to complete its journey back to the bubble but like I said, I may do some more mining tomorrow for more Tritium and LTDs, I haven't decided yet. We'll find out tomorrow. End of log entry.
CMDR Bullet out..
I have decisions to make. I am so close to the bubble now, just about every star system I encounter has been discovered. There really is no point in exploration at this point however, I have noticed that many of the commanders that have come before me have not entirely explored their systems before moving on leaving undiscovered bodies just waiting to be found and logged. It would be a shame to repeat their mistake. I guess I'll make that decision on an individual basis as I encounter them. The crew and I would like to make it back to the bubble as soon as possible, but I don't like passing up good exo-data if I don't have to and, after all, I am the Captain..
By my best estimates we are about two to three days away from the bubble at our current pace. If we make no stops for exobiology, we could be there in as little as a day if we kick it. I really don't like the sound of that. It's too much work if you ask me. What's the point?
My last recon trip showed fifteen jumps in the Mandalay. All jumps were into main sequence star systems. Our final star system was Bleia Eohn WZ-N b36-0 and the carrier is in a parking orbit around planet B 4. This is where we spent the night cycle and will be continuing our journey from. End of log entry.
CMDR Bullet out..
Today was spent in the same star system as yesterday and I continued to top off the tank in the carrier. It required actually two more trips back to the hot spot to complete the job of filling the Tritium tank on the carrier and wouldn't you know it, on my last trip to the Tritium hotspot, I forgot to buy limpets.. WTF? Fortunately, the carrier is parked in orbit around this very planet so retrieving a load of limpets was not a big deal, just an annoyance. After doing that, I returned to the Tritium hotspot and finished mining for Tritium and then hopped over to a low temperature Diamond hotspot to fill the remaining space in the T-11's hold. I might as well add some profits to this endeavor while I'm out here.
That will wrap this log entry, very short indeed. I should have all the Tritium I need to complete the journey back to the bubble, but I will probably make one more stop to fill the Tritium tank before I arrive in the Frey system which is my ultimate destination.
CMDR Bullet out.
So, I made another fair chunk of distance today in the direction of good ol' Sol and the bubble. Of course, the usual setbacks kept me from making more distance than I would have liked to but I'm happy with the progress I did make. An added hindrance was the fact that I have been actively looking for a gas giant with icy rings and specifically rings with a Tritium hotspot or two. How shortsighted I have been to forget that gas giants aren't the only bodies that can possess rings because that is indeed where I have ended up today in my quest for Tritium.
The carrier and I are currently parked in orbit around the planet AB 1 in the system Droju KY-Q c5-0. It is a ringed icy world that contains a very large Tritium hotspot as well as other precious minerals and metals. I plan to fill the Tritium tank over the course of today and tomorrow and also mine some precious metals and minerals as well. Once I get to the bubble, I will sell all these resources at just below the galactic average for a healthy profit and then buy a few ships I've had my eye on. After that, I have some engineering I need done on several ships.
The trip report for the day is as follows, I made twenty-one jumps in the Mandalay into all main sequence star systems and covered eight hundred sixty-five light years distance. This places me roughly thirty-four hundred and forty light years from Sol. I may spend an entire day here mining at AB 1, I haven't decided yet. My next log entry will reveal my ultimate decision on that.
CMDR Bullet out..
I can't complain about today as it certainly turned out to be a better day than the last few as far as making distance goes. Still not as far as I'd like to have gone but I'll take it. I'm really trying to get back to the bubble now and I am even considering skipping worlds with exobiology on them just to expedite things. Besides, being this close to the bubble now, I would think that any worlds with any exobiology on them would have certainly been discovered and cataloged by now. I am definitely running into star systems that have previously been discovered. On occasion however I am finding that just the main star has been discovered and the entire system itself has remained unscanned and therefore undiscovered. These systems I am dutifully completing the task.
Up to this point I have made thirteen jumps, and all thirteen jumps were into main sequence star systems. I have called the carrier forward to my new position in the system Drojeae WI-Q c19-0 and will sell my cartographic and exobiological data once it arrives and then grab a good meal and a few drinks. Afterward I'll sack out and hopefully do it all again tomorrow. I would like to find a system with some Tritium in it soon though, I hate seeing the tank getting close to half.
CMDR Bullet out..
Sometimes the best laid plans just never get off the ground for one reason or another. Today my plan was to move the carrier at least one thousand light years in the direction of the bubble. Well, that didn't happen. Exobiology sort of just happened instead. I'm not complaining, mind you, it's just that when you have a plan in mind it seems there is always something that comes along and kind of, well, screws things up. At least I made some decent credits out of the situation and I'm not done yet. Tomorrow, I pick up where I left off today continuing with more exobiology.
I made only five jumps today and visited five main sequence star systems. I covered only three hundred and sixty light years distance toward the bubble, and the carrier only made one short jump to where we currently are now. We are in the Blae Drye DO-T c3-0 star system and we are orbiting planet 1 B. There are five bio signatures on 1 B and there are three exobio signatures on one other moon in this system I will sample before we depart tomorrow.
Spirits are high aboard the carrier as we get closer to the bubble. That alone makes me happy to see and hear. I think I'll have a drink or two down in the lounge now. That's the end of this log entry.
CMDR Bullet out..
With only about ten jumps to go in the carrier, I am just about there in this return journey back to the bubble and back from my very, very long exploration trip. I had no idea it would last this long or change the way I view my life in space, but it has. After I take care of a few things in the bubble, I will be returning to the great unknown of uncharted space, that much is certain. I don't know how much time I will actually spend in the bubble yet but, I will try not to stay too long.
As far as this journey goes from this point forward, I doubt I will find any undiscovered star systems. If I find anything 'undiscovered', it will be distant star system bodies that no one bothered to fly out to in the early days of exploration before the advent of the FSS and frame shift SCO. Yes, I will continue to look, I'm all about the discoveries but my statement still stands. I'm sure this area has been picked over with a fine-tooth comb.
Today's jump count was eight and they were all into main sequence star systems. Nothing notable to report on. The distance traveled was four hundred ninety-seven light years and change. The carrier made one single jump today and is parked in the star system Blae Drye IG-F c11-0 orbiting planet number 2. End of log entry.
