(Mandalay)

This evening it was about a 60-jump session to get to Galionas. It's a black hole system, so when I landed on a moon near some Ammonia Ice Geyers everything was lit by the blue-green glow of the nebula.
Many months ago I made a bookmark on the galaxy map for a system with an Earth-like world orbiting another world that another commander had found. Earth-likes orbiting any other planet are pretty rare. When I found myself relatively close by, I knew I had to go for a look.
On the way I found a water world with a large, but narrow, ring. It was a rocky ring, but the local star lit it up so it looked like an icy ring.
After many, many jumps, I arrived at my destination for the day: Hypiae Aoc OE-G d11-298. The Earth-like is a little smaller than Earth at about 4,500km radius. The High Metal Content world it orbits is twice its size.
Elsewhere in the system I noticed that there was a landable ringed planet, and so I decided it would be the perfect photo opportunity to end the day.
The large crater I found was quite hazy, giving the sky a copper-orange colour.
The Esra Taf is looking quite a bit worse for wear these days! Lots of supercruising to map planets. EDSM is currently estimating over 500MCr of scan data. I'm thinking that by the time I dock at Explorer's Anchorage I'll more than double my cash credit balance. Exploring is really easy money these days.
This was a long day of all travelling. I started by checking the WP6 to WP7 route itinerary. Gosh - there are a lot of POIs to visit!
I started with the Shrogaei Nebula Cluster. First was Shrogaei FH-U e3-1421.
Then Shrogaei BL-X e1-2343.
Then Shrogaei HR-V e2-7758.
Once inside the nebula the skybox turned into an aqua sea-green, the perfect environment for a Beluga.
Next was Shrogaei QO-Q e5-3431.
Inside this nebula the clouds appeared mottled red and green, very pretty, but I had to keep moving.
The last nebula in the group was Shrogaei VJ-Z e6712.
Next was Black in Green. On the way I saw a nebula slightly off course, and so I had to re-route for a closer look.
Just a few jumps short of Black in Green I found an untagged Earth-like world, my third so far on this trip.
When I finally got to Black in Green, it was awesome. It is a tourist installation less than 200km from a black hole!
The final destination of the day was The Clawed Hand Nebula. With the bright galaxy behind, then the dark nebula clouds, and then bright stars closer, the nebula looked like a hole in space with stars showing through.
Day 46 was a no-fly day. Day 47 I visited the Pink Flame Nebula. Sometime after I left that I found my first untagged Earth-like world for the trip - but I forgot to take a photo!
The first POI for Day 48 was the Cloverfield Planetary Nebula. I was only two jumps away from it when I found an untagged Earth-Like-World - my second for the trip. It was co-orbiting with a Water world too. I was surprised to find something like this so close to a published POI. If you look closely you can see the water world in the top-right corner.
The Cloverfield Planetary Nebula was a nice spot, but there seems to have been a lot of these blue planetary nebulas lately...
While on the way to The Dryau Awesomes I noticed a pretty purple nebula off in the distance, and so I had to make a slight detour. It turned out to be the Screakao ZJ-Z e4322 Nebula.
It has a black hole in it and the bright star density in the area behind the black hole makes for spectacular screenshots.
The White Dwarf of The Dryau Awesomes bit me on the way in and dinged the FSD to 99%. However the views from the moons of the nearby gas giant are just wow!
Then I moved on the the WP6 meetup site - nearly a week late.
Tonight was pretty much all travelling. I started at Fosforon.
Then moved on to the Fleur-de-Lis Nebula.
I ended the night at The 'Neutron' Nebula.
I realized tonight that my EDSM estimated scan value of 171MCr well and truly exceeds my original Distant Worlds 3302 exploration payout of 127MCr - I've only been travelling a few days since Polo Harbour!
Two more POIs, then it's on to WP6!
Day 43 was a wash due to IRL commitments...
Day 44 was a bit short too. I only had time for the 19 jumps to Fosforon.
Will plan the route to WP6 tomorrow.
I was on my way to the Ocularis Coelum when I read a post on the forums by Cmdr Hyundai35 that the system Mylaifa XQ-T d4-5703 was worth a visit with the moon C 4 b having some spectacular mountain ranges. I didn't see anything particularly special (maybe the good views were on the dark side?), but I did find some Silicate Magma Lava Spouts.
The Ocularis Coelum entry body is a black hole.
Nothing particularly special there. However, the system is notable for having a G-class star with a ring.
Next stop was the Gardens of Shangri-La.
This system is very unusual (unique?) in that it has an Earth-like world orbiting a lava-world!
Nearby is a Luteolum Lagrange Storm Cloud - quite exciting with lots of lightning - be careful - the lightning drains your shields! There are also Solid Mineral Spheres and Flavum Metallic Crystals.
Even more exciting was finding some K 12-Type Anomalies.
This was an excellent system to visit - I can highly recommend it.
The Gloaming was the next POI. In the system it's just a Neutron star, but best view of the nebula cloud is from a nearby system.
I then started off in the direction of Fosforon, but only got about half-way there before I had to call it a night.
I started by visiting the Bullet Nebula. It looked like there was a bit of a gap in the nebula.
View of Jade Ghost Stellar Remnant from Byoi Ain TJ-I d9-24 (with A 5 nearby).
Here I am bouncing off the exclusion zone at about 25km.
Ebony and Ivory is a system with a Black Hole and White Dwarf orbiting each other.
On the way to the next waypoint I noticed a blue dot in the distance which turned out to be Eor Aowsy HR-V e2-4431.
Inside the nebula my chromed Beluga looked white.
Phiaanor turned out to be a similar-looking system, except there was a ringed water world for some interest.
I decided to call it a night here and landed on one of the moons of the water world.
Finally made it to WP05 at Polo Harbour.
Still almost a week behind, so I'm not likely to make any meetup tomorrow night, but since it's the weekend and I have no other plans, I might give it a go. Still have to do sightseeing on the way, though.
I then saw I had a bookmark for Eor Aoscs VM-W d1-683 which was only about 15 jumps away, so I had a look. It seems it is very close to the Bullet Nebula and has an Earth-like world.
It's quite a different looking nebula.
First thing, I've uploaded images for my writeup of the original Distant Worlds expedition. See the first page of my Logbook.
As for Distant Worlds 2, I'm still nearly a week behind, and I'm still sightseeing!
First stop today is the Amaethon Nebula. This system has a water world orbited by another water world.
The nebula itself isn't overly special - basically one of several 'butterfly' purple/blue nebulas in the game.
There's two more POIs before I head for WP5.
The Crayfish Nebula was about 40 jumps away.
This system has a pair of planets orbiting quite close to the primary - one with a ring. Not (yet) landable, sadly.
The Clockwork Rings were only another 11 jumps.
It was a further 37 jumps to get to WP5. I decided it was too far for tonight, so I parked on one of the Clockwork planets.
