CMDR's log

I ultimately ended up taking a longer sabbatical than I intended after completing the Minerva Centaurus Expedition, but I've finally started on the 3304 Beagle Point Expedition. Before setting off this time, I made sure to purchase a heat sink launcher for extra insurance against dropping in too close to a tight binary system, like I did on my last expedition.

The trip has been largely uneventful thus far, partially aided by a new secondary viewscreen I installed, just below my dashboard, instead of off to the left of it. As a result, I've been able to take in my in-flight entertainment without getting distracted and emergency dropping into stars (knock on wood).

I also stopped by Sagittarius A*, as planned, but to be honest, it was a bit underwhelming. There's still something to be said for having actually traveled to the center of the galaxy, I suppose.

CMDR's log

This weekend, I set off on the final two legs of the Minerva Centaurus Expedition. Reaching Hypiae Ausms JU-I c12-1 involved several long chains of neutron star jumps, which ended up taking quite the toll on my FSD; so much, in fact, that I had to stop midway to repair it due to increasingly frequent malfunctions. Once I got there, though, it was quite the sight to behold--the entire galaxy below me and the Christmas Tree nebula as a backdrop.

From there, I took a brief detour to see how much higher I could go above the galactic plane without getting myself stranded. I was ultimately able to reach Syroomo OX-U e2-0 before I had to turn back.

The rest of the journey back to Colonia was uneventful, and I eventually docked at Jaques Station. My ship was a bit worse for wear after such a long expedition, but the 135 million credits I received from selling all of my exploration data more than covered the repairs.

I've certainly learned a lot from completing my first expedition, and am eager to get started on the Beagle Point Expedition. However, I think I'll take a few weeks off to rest before catapulting myself out to the furthest reaches of the galaxy again.

CMDR's log

This leg of my expedition saw my ship losing its connection with the tracking network on multiple occasions, so once again, the distance and jump totals are approximations.

I had no issues crossing the Styx, and made it safely into the Boreas region. From there, I traveled into the Perseus Stem and the Conflux. I took a short detour here, on my way from Bleethai UP-J c24-58 to Dryoea Gree BW-B a40-5, to visit the Phroea Gree AA-A h34 nebula.

My next and penultimate waypoint is the Christmas Tree Geysers at Hypiae Ausms JU-I c12-1. I took a peek at the route plot in advance and holy cow are there a lot of chained neutron star jumps to get up there. I'll have to keep a careful eye on my fuel, as well as my FSD's integrity, if I'm to make it there safely.

CMDR's log

Happy New Year! Unfortunately, during my travels these past two days, my ship lost its connection with the tracking network, and thus some of the jumps on one leg of my expedition went unrecorded. This covered approximately 16 jumps over a straight-line distance of 887.93 ly. I have used these numbers in my accounting below, but will be marking my expedition totals as approximations for the duration, due to this uncertainty.

Otherwise, things have been, again, quite uneventful. The next two legs of the expedition should see me crossing the Styx, and if FSD injections will be necessary anywhere along this journey, I imagine it will be there.

CMDR's log

Not much to report this time around. Things did get a little uncomfortably hot at one point when I jumped into a system right between two stars, so I suppose I'll have to buy a heat sink launcher once I get to Colonia. Otherwise, the ship seems to be holding up quite well (though I can't say the same for its paint), and I don't have any worries about running out of supplies.

CMDR's log

In these past few days, I finally discovered the purpose of the Use jet-cone boost option in the route computer, which has aided me to great effect in my latest three legs of the expedition. Unfortunately, the flight computer's HUD is far less intelligent, and I ended up emergency dropping next to a neutron star due to its failure to render the safe-distance boundary around it.

As I am now making full use of neutron stars and the boosts they offer, I have started utilizing my AFM; repairing my FSD whenever I reach a waypoint. I haven't yet had to refill it, so I don't think I'll have any problems with my supply of materials on this journey.

As far as interesting systems go, I came across my share of water worlds, but I unfortunately encountered no Earth-likes. I did, however, come upon a system fairly early on, Eifols FH-L d8-6, which contained three terraformable, high metal content worlds. Again, though, these were around 200,000 ls from the system's arrival point.

CMDR's log

This is my first time participating in an expedition, so I figured I may as well log my experience. My ultimate goal is to complete this expedition, hopefully ahead of schedule, and immediately start on the Beagle Point Expedition, passing through Sagittarius A* along the way.

I prepped for this expedition by spending some quality time driving on the moons of Kalak ABC 1, gathering materials for FSD injections and AFM refills. The injections hopefully shouldn't be necessary, since the William Anders has an unladen jump range of just over 40 ly, but the refills could come in handy if I end up emergency dropping into too many stars.

Due to other commitments, I was only able to start the expedition this week, two weeks after the official start, but I seem to have been able to catch up with the pack, nonetheless. My journey through the first two waypoints was largely uneventful, save for one emergency drop into a star when I became too engrossed in my in-flight entertainment.

I did, however, come upon quite a remarkable system, Flyooe Phio EH-C d13-0, containing no less than four water worlds, two of which orbit each other in a binary pair! However, three of those planets (including the pair) are more than 200,000 ls from the system's arrival point, making them quite inconvenient to reach. With this early find, I have great hopes for what awaits me as this expedition continues.
