I'm pleased to announce that Miskatonic University is collaborating with The Canonn Interstellar Research Group for this year's expedition. Last year's expedition was perhaps not the greatest success given the mysterious disappearance of Lukas Richardson in the Pleiades Region and the deaths of a number of students, however it was a roaring success compared to the Antarctic expedition of the 1930s in which the entire advance party died. This year the one name on everyone's lips is the Thargoids.
The Canonn Interstellar Research Group are providing us with the coordinates of over 200 Thargoid surface sites for us to visit and survey as well as a number of crash sites and barnacle forests. The aim is to visit each site in turn single or in groups and compete a survey. The level of participation is optional but clearly we are looking for a full survey of all sites.
New Priority
Thanks to everyone's efforts so far we have gathered enough data to classify sites into a number of distinct types of site. The key to identifying sites it to count the Leviathans from the the air. The Leviathans are cockroach like structures that can be seen from high above the sites.
Our top priority now is to get aerial screenshots of every site. Ideally we would like daylight images of the sites but where this is not possible you should take a screenshot using night vision with your HUD turned off and use the High Res screenshot so that you can crop the image.

We hope to provide an EDMC plugin to help you with the route and provide you with a pre-filled link to the survey soon, but in the mean time the waypoint descriptions here on EDSM contain a link to fill in the Canonn survey form as well as details of the planets the sites can be found on.
Its recommended that you visit the sites in groups as this can sometimes summon one of the Thargoids. It also make it a bit easier to gather the materials needed in order to activate the sites.

Find a threat 5 Non Human Signal Source with a good few minutes on the clock. When you drop look in the contacts panel for a sensor or probe and ignore the cyclops. If there is no sensor or probe then exit to the main menu. When you log back in, go into supercruise and look in your navigation panel for the Unidentified Signal. You can keep dropping in the same threat five Non Human Signal Source until it spawns what you need

Celaeno is one of the seven stars of the Pleiades. On its fourth planet was the Great Library of Celaeno, which housed stone tablets containing secrets stolen from the Great Old Ones and Elder Gods. Professor Laban Shrewsbury spent some time there, transcribing the library's knowledge in his notebook—a manuscript that would later be known as the Celaeno Fragments.The system today only has two planets, something cataclismic must have destroyed the other two planets. It is believed that the wreckage of the library is in the asteroid belt surrounding Celaeno 1.
Our first stop will be the interceptor crash site on planet HIP 17862 6 C A where you will find Thargoid Sensors on the Surface at coordinates (30.3425,-98.5875). Finding the site can be tricky so to save time it is worthwhile joining a wing with someone who has visited in the past as they will have the site displayed in their navigation computer. Make sure you have a corrosion resistant cargo hold or your ship could be badly damaged by the devices.
To get a probe find a threat 5 NHSS with a good few minutes on the clock. When you drop look in the contacts panel for a probe and ignore the cyclops. If there is probe then exit to the main menu.
